We would not have got 3 FTR vs Briscoes matches if Punk hadn't forced him to push them. Both Punk and FTR bald are huge fags, but rhey're good enough at copying Bret Hart matches to make AEW watchable. People qould not have been as sad when Jay passed if Tony wasn't forced to let the Briscoes main event 3 PPVs. It used to be the one match to look forward on Tony era ROH cards.

He also forced Tony to protect Danhausen. Punk somehow understood that Danhausen is 100% funnier when he's booked with tag partners who win for him.

When you say "elevated", what do you mean? Putting someone who's beneath you in the business the rub? That's not common for guys at the top as they're always trying to protect their spot. Austin never put anyone over clean throughout his entire run from his match with Bret until his final match against Rock. The best example I can think of where someone elevated someone beneath them is actually Bret with Austin at WM 13. Austin lost the match, but both went away looking strong, resulted in a double turn and Austin getting mega over resulting in him becoming the biggest draw of all time and didn't have any negative impact on Bret.
I think Rock would be happy to put most people over. He just didn't need to during his run at the top as a face.
Hogan put people over when he was past his prime and didn't have any clout any more.
Taker put loads of people over, Austin at Summerslam 98 is a good example.
Michaels let plenty of people go over him, too.

there are many. he gave mysterio, cena, jeff hardy, heyman, etc. the best feuds of their careers.
he put over dwayne, haith when he absolutely should not have.
he made wardlow look like a star (sad his booking got fucked later). in sting's own words he did for darby what flair had done for sting (sad his booking got fucked later). and punk is half the reason mjf is as big as he is.

the fed started looking at roh and other indie promotions because of him. they realised that a fuckton of talent was present in these low budget companies. they brought many of the talented wrestlers from the indies because of punk and changed their entire approach for finding new guys. they put them in nxt and started training them. kevinsteen, sami zayn, etc. etc.
punk is also the sole reason why there is better medical assistance in wwe now. he nearly died because of their poor medical condition.
he is the reason why people are given time offs. even champions are given holidays, which back then was outright unheard of. becky and seth rollings were given time off while they were the face of the company.
they let bryan mainevent wm 30 because of punk. they thought that letting punk leave had set a bad example and discouraged the talent they brought from the indies. they started treating these guys much better because of what happened with punk.
and lastly obviously the pipebomb, which was taboo at the time. even mentioning those things. and speaking out against the supercena shit and the hypocrisy of vince and gang. the entire thing. how he worked with kayfabe and the worked shoots. mentioning roh and njpw. in '11 nobody even remotely thought of doing something like it

Triple H brought in the hammer because Austin was in imminent danger of losing otherwise. It's a classic heel maneuver that happens all the time, and it backfiring does nothing to take away from the rub the babyface gets by pinning said heel.

Also, Punk has one of the worst looking finishers I can remember. The execution in that MitB 2011 was terrible.

Pulled Mick Foley out of Midcard Hell and put him in the main event. He protected the Rock from HHH and Shawn. Tapped out to Kurt Angel, elevated Jericho, Benoit, RVD, Kane, and HHH. The secret behind Austin is that he rarely won clean and he was very giving in his matches against his opponents. Everyone who went against Austin, came out better, just like Austin did when he went against Bret. Winning doesn't mean you've been elevated - though it does help. And if you're not convinced, riddle me this, the people who went against Stone Cold Steve Austin and worked programs with him. Did their stock on the roster increase or decrease? In nearly every instance, the answer is yes, their standing and stock increased. That's the difference between guys like Austin, Rock, and Bret Hart vs Cunter, Philly, and Hogan. Even if you didn't win against Austin, you were better off than before.

I would say that Hogan was good at making guys but his style of doing so got antiquated during the later days of his career. During the 80s it worked perfectly and guys would line up around the block. Hogan would always sell his opponent as a real threat, put them over as one in promos, sold his ass off, took bumps and rarely (if ever) had finishes that made the opponent look weak or 'slipped on a banana peel' levels of retarded. For the 80s this worked really well because all the big guys who worked with Hogan could go on to have very successful territory runs off that fame or were at least solidly upper-midcard in the WWF for their remaining time.

A video package of you slamming Hogan around and some 8x10s of you with him selling a move was legitimately career making at the time and would basically guarantee you top booking going into a territory. Having your local babyface fight and win against a guy that gave Hulk Hogan a run for his money was as big of a rub as you could ask for. The mechanism of working with Hulk and then passing some of that shine down just stopped working after the 80s though and he did have some indefensible shit like the Starrcade finish with Sting later on. But he also put over Bork with not just a clean win but one where he bladed and passed out from a bearhug, which wasn't even a finisher that had been used since the 80s but looked as close to real as you could make it.
