>>9870011It's a bit more than that. Dave is deeply autistic and has this weird logic where he bases quality on crowd reaction (which he sometimes imagines, and has admitted as much in the past) and if the guy is pushed heavily. It's also his hall of fame rules. If the guy is being booked in key positions frequently, that means he is good. If the crowd makes noise then it's good. Completely ignoring how the crowd will make noise for highspots, but they aren't watching the match, they're waiting for the flips.
This started when he went to PWG for the first time and saw all the loud fans and all the wrestlers talked to him and named moves after him and he decided that this is perfect because he's a mark.
He will outright say that the flips style is shit and dangerous, but then call it amazing and give it 5 stars when he "reviews" it. Also bear in mind that Dave often mentions how he wasn't paying attention. He listens to the commentary and crowd noise and looks up every now and then. Even when he attends in person, if you're near him you can see him turned away from the ring 90% of the time. Usually scribbling incoherent notes. That's why his reports are always based around what commentary says and why he loves shit commentators who talk way too much, even when what they're saying is actively wrong (Kevin Kelly) and he will report what they say as opposed to what happens. It's also why he has to rewatch shows on his TV after attending so he can find out what happened from the announcers.
Not surprising, since all Dave does is report exactly what people tell him without ever checking for validity. Why would he do any different with the actual wrestling?
