I started watching Lucha Underground a few weeks ago and was really enjoying it but I stopped watching because I was doing other stuff and Sexy Star's existence was ruining it for me because they made her character cringe and the commentators wouldn't shut the fuck up about how strong and brave she is but also how dare the man who she is choosing to fight with dare hit her and domestic abuse or some fucking bullshit.
And they forced Drago to overdo his tongue thing every single time for too long and that gimmick honestly just looks bad even when he does it well because it's just black jelly not a tongue.
And I got sick of them overdoing the "WE ARE DOING MEXICAN THINGS HELLO LATINXES PLS NOTICE US" thing instead of just letting it exist as the setting. Also they refused to name which tribe Puma is from trying to cast the widest possible net of self-insert Meximarks.
All of these little things caused me to take a break from watching a production I was otherwise really enjoying.
I have not seen any old lucha and worry it would suffer from the same problem its sister product over in Japan does, a lot of boring repetitive moves that accomplish nothing and look stupid but must be in every match for fear the tards will stop watching without repetition.
Same thing with most "running the ropes" and constant formulaic 2-counts in both WWE and AEW and most indie feds.
