Per Fightful:
>Much has been made of Cody Rhodes’ triumphant return to the WWE and a seemingly lackluster loss at Wrestlemania. Fightful can now officially confirm that Cody was, at several points, booked to win that match. In addition, the finish was not set in stone until mere hours before the match.
>For nearly 6 weeks leading up to Wrestlemania, the planned finish changed from Cody winning to Roman losing, with discussion of a potential double KO finish at one point. However, about a week before the show all parties agreed to Cody losing.
>The actual match finish, however, has led to some concern that Cody “has one foot out the door” per sources. Originally, Cody was booked to lose in a much different manner. A double count out would lead to Cody demanding a restart, at which point he would hit Cross Rhodes and get a visual pin on Roman while the Usos distracted the referee. At this point Solo Sikoa would toss Roman a taser, the taser would be used on Cody, and Roman would then hit a spear. Cody would then kick out, hit a Cross Rhodes again, and then pass out from exhaustion. Both men would barely beat a 10 count before Cody would pass out again leading to Roman hitting a spear and winning.
>Hours before the match, this was changed, with creative saying it “didn’t do much to advance the Bloodline story or to make Solo look strong”
>Since then, Cody Rhodes has been focused on acting, supposedly being “very distracted” backstage. However, several auditions “did not go well” and the general feeling is that a Hollywood career is not in the cards for Cody. Making matters worse, WWE has said they do not see Brandi Rhodes as a full time valet or an in ring competitor, while Brandi has pitched multiple ideas including a women’s title run and a “stable of black female talent” that she would be the leader of
