He was great territory guy. But, once NWA became WCW he was already old. Just like WWF a lot of guys they were promoting (Luger, Sting, Road Warriors) were roided to the gills. Dusty was fat like the guy you'd see at Walmart. For his time Dusty was great and certainly one of the best of his error. For proof look no further than when the reaction he got in 1977 when he faced Superstar Billy Graham for the WWWF title. Flair didn't even start going by the "Nature Boy" until 1978 and Hogan was still having ed Leslie rub tanning oil all over him in 1977.

People loved Dusty because they saw him as the representative of the common man. Plus there's something to be said for the appeal of a likeable dancing fat guy. He was never a GOAT in the ring or on the mic but he made up for it by playing his role very well. I do agree that all his kids turned out to be a damn disgrace, though.
