As someone new to pro wrestling, how hype was this event? Who was the expected winner? Did it live up to the hype? What were the reactions on the sequel?

They had built this up for about a year, so it was big dead and one of the last times a wrestling feud genuinely felt mainstream in terms of wrestling starpower. Everyone (myself included) expected Cena to win, but I popped like crazy when The Rock won. The WM 29 rematch wasn't as good.

They hyped a wrestling match between two mid workers for a year, so no it did not live up to the hype.

For some reason this Mania's theme has been stuck in my head forever. It might have been the first Mania that my friends and I all watched together after getting them into wrestling. So now I like the song and it reminds me of when WWE was still shit, but I enjoyed it to some extent.

By modern wrestling standards it was mega hyped. My normalfag friends and work colleagues who used to watch back in the 90s bought the PPV. They'd also tune in when Rock was on TV leading up to it too, and even after. I think most expected Rock to win.
Did it live up to the hype? Depends what you define as "living up". I thought the match was meh but it did an insane buyrate. Sequel I think was worse but it also did a great buyrate.

I followed all their trash talks from like November 2011. Raw was 3 hours and ypu had to sit through everything to get to their promo. It was amazing btw. Their video package was amazing and the match had a big match feel.
