Minus the NBA game, the three nationally televised college games and the WBC game were unique events Dynamite never has to compete with. On a much larger scale and with a bigger impact it's like RAW going against the CFP National Championship game (in a normal year when the final score isn't 65-7). There are a few possibilities
1. The 3.5 million viewers who watched NCAA, NBA, and WBC appeared out of nowhere and never watch TV otherwise.
2. Wrestling fans only watch wrestling and all the viewers for the aforementioned events came from elsewhere.
3. A certain percentage of viewers who watch AEW decided to watch the stiff sports competition that night.
The answer is obviously 3. The only question is how much viewership did AEW lose due to them?
