I was on them for over 5 years following a chemically induced brain injury caused by prescription drugs. They did help, but coming off of them was worse than the reason I went on. Since being med free I have focused a lot on wellness and gut health and I feel the closest to normal I have in a long time. I was always active and healthy before during and after my injury though. So I already had the tools. I don’t think they’re any use for people with behavioural issues, and if anything cause more.

We just don't know enough about the brain to properly treat this stuff. SSRIs are pretty much just throwing chemicals at people's brain chemistry and hoping it works (for some of them).

The fucked up thing about treating anxiety and depression with pharmaceuticals is that it's nearly impossible to tell if an improvement/decline is because of the medication or just a general turn in outlook. You can't really tell where your depression/happiness and the medicine begins/ends.
A lot of people just enjoy the sedation effects most of the pills give. I still miss sleeping on that Seroquel shit, it put me out like a light. Best sleep of my life and it gave me a generally good buzz -- but you're still much better off without it.

It’s much easier than actually doing anything about the sorry state of their lives. The whole COVID vaccine shit was so fortuitous for them, really gave them a chance to rewrite their public image and try to make themselves immune to criticism (anything against them being branded "anti-science)

I was having tachycardia (fast heart rate), where my heart would shoot up to 160-170 bpm while resting for inexplicable reasons. I was also having a lot of skipped heart beats. I legit thought I was having a heart attack. My doctor put me on a heart monitor for a week and they found that my heart was structurally okay and diagnosed me with anxiety. I was prescribed an SSRI for it and my heart has been fine since about 2 weeks into taking them. Anecdotal but whatever. It's working for me so far.
