I went back and started watching from January 1980 to see the progression of early WWF to when Vince buys it and ushers in Hulkamania and the Rock 'n' Wrestling Connection and so on. I'm a few shows in and I've been really pleasantly surprised at the quality of the product. Larry Zybszko has especially been a highlight. Dude was like the Owen Hart or Chris Benoit of his time. Fantastic worker who could have a great match with anyone. Heel Thunderlips Hulk with Blassie is also awesome to see.

It's already hard enough to set inflexion points inside the history of one promotion, like when did the attitude era start?. I think it's truly impossible to stablish a common point across all promotions.
A lot of things changed around the new millenium, be it WCW's death, the invasion, the AJPW exodus, etc. but there simply wasn't one shared wave of change

It was a good match, although a bit confusing. I think both teams are faces, but it seemed like everyone was except Nikita. Not because he outright did some heel work but rather because he was constantly in spots to make Liger and Pillman shine
Maybe you noticed that most highlights were in favor of Brian and Liger. That wasn't by my choice, Steamboat and Nikita let the lightheavyweights look good throughout most of it.

One of the best periods in WCW. Watts' rules were kinda dumb, but there was so much great shit here. Sting/Vader was an awesome feud, the NWA tournaments felt like a true international big deal, and guys like Rick Rude and Steamboat were really taking it to the next level.

Back in 2009 when the Von erichs were inducted into the WWE HoF, i remember a shoot interview with Kevin von erich becoming the talk of the wrestling forum i used to post in. The guy who uploaded it had one of those xXx_Edgelord_xXx kind-of names but was actually a pretty cool user that marked out for any new WCCW stuff he could find because he had basically watched it all. Anyways, one day i log in and see a thread with 100+ replies (Which was a note-worthy occurance because the forum wasn't big by any means), the subject being: "Kevin von erich shoot". The edgelord explains that he was torrenting some fan cam footage of live events after the 1st parade of champions but was surprised to find, at the bottom of the file list, an MKV file titled "KVE Shoot 00-00-00". He had already watched the first seconds of it before making the thread but i had to scroll down about 20 or 30 replies before he could convert it to a format that the site supported, eventually he did upload it and that's when the thread blew up
The video start with a shitty "title card" and after that the first thing we see is Kevin von erich sitting in front of a white wall. The off-screen interviewer starts asking the usual questions about travel in the territories, how did they used to call matches, what was the booking process, etc, Eventually the interviewer touches the topic of his brothers and the video goes black for a moment, when we're back with Kevin it's obvious that he was crying. The interviewer says: "Let's try to get that again, ok?" and Kevin starts explaining...

The first time they went to texas stadium to set up how the event was going to get taped he felt a jab in his stomach as soon as he got out of the car. When he came back to it Fritz and his brothers were calling for him, worried that he had or was about to do something stupid. Kevin breaks down again and in the middle of tears recalls how he got off the floor, opened the door and everybody walked the dinosaur

The WCW ring isn't tiny, the WWF ring is big. The WCW ring is the traditional size of a wrestling ring, Vince made them bigger because of his larger wrestlers. Also the WWF rings were hard as concrete until 1998ish, when Vince started taking bumps coincidentally.

The "hulk up" actually comes before Hogan or Lawler. In of his podcasts Cornette explained that the one who popularized the routine was, if i'm not mistaken, Chief Jay Strongbow, and it was known in the industry as "bowing up"
Even then, the bow up routine was something you have to be extremely over to get away with, but any babyface worth a damn has a way to bow up or show fire. Scott hall said that's why he adopted his fist shake gesture, after he turned face on the WWF

I don't think it's hard to understand why the crowd went bananas. Their hero, Jerry Lawler, was getting beat up by some bad son-of-a-gun, but suddenly he gets a second wind as is ready to throw hands.
I wish that through video and with the perspective i have as a smart fan almost fifty years later, i could feel what those people felt at that moment
