Rubbing the scar tissue on his arms as the bloodletting wounds regenerate over after a small rest as Muffin eats goodberries to recover her lost blood. Both people cleaning up tools, blood, and melted scrap to avoid leaving any evidence that could out their plans.
“So Muffin that was a great job finishing off the repairs so fast.”
“Yeah kinda surprised too at how much I got done it is like I suddenly found new connections to data or got better at improvising solutions. Also helps with the fact I had usable parts rather than the scraps that took me months to grab.”
“About that we might have to leave Astra after the weekend.”
“Wait why?”
“Well as your part of the resistance we will raid the school for something and they will want to pull you out of the area.”
“And they tell us now?”
“They told me like in the morning after I fucked with the golems and rune knights so they want to get us all out before things get bad.”
“So they just decided to throw us into the deep end already and uproot everything?” Says Muffin with a tinge of anger lacing her voice.
“To be fair I was kinda the one that pushed for a more aggressive strategy as the mages can see into the future with divination so we are already on a clock.”
“What about my family?! Are we suppose to just leave them behind?”
“We can take them all.”
“Ah?Uhm, what about my degree and all my work that will go to waste as I doubt the resistance can do or build anything in the wilds.”
“They can always use more artificers as Rose is one too and they have built pretty impressive things as we saw with the purifiers.”
“Ugh, this isn’t how I imagined my life would go and Virgil won’t abandon his family to Astra.”
“Right, I kinda forgot about that part while getting things ready for Saturday.”
“Yeah, yeah just had out for your things while I get let everyone else know and start deconstructing my workshop.”
Exiting the workshop William sends out Betty a text as he waits for several minutes as a call goes through hushing her to begin his spiel of selling used cars for several seconds before getting to what he actually needs.
“Betty, we are going to raid Astra on the weekend and I need names of factions that hate each other to cause more damage to the rune knights.”
“Why?”
“Resistance wants to destroy something in Astra and it might reveal us.”
“Wh-”
“Your family can be taken in and away from mages.”
“Sucks that we will lose the bakery but it is better than dying on the street. So if you want to cause a lot of trouble I can hand you the leader's feuds to force a lot of collateral damages but very dangerous.”
