You are Cindy Moon; Warrior Priest of Khonshu, Ward of Ben Parker, Part-time local vigilante. And, just recently, you somehow obtained the title of "Slayer" from an ancient Vampire Lord with an evil agenda. Between going to school, fighting bad guys, wrangling an overeager sidekick and dealing with an insane amount of family drama, now you're expected to potentially help save the world! No pressure.

https://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Max%20Spider%20Quest Last time: Cindy managed to convince the Kaiju King to aid her in eliminating Varnae, and forged an official contract of sorts with Mercy. But not soon afterwards, Monster Metropolis was attacked by an army of the undead! Together, with the help of Harpy, Deadhead, Shaggy, and, surprisingly enough, Louise the Nightguard, Cindy fought back against the undead menace and even spared time to rescue those in need.
The plan was going great, until Cindy was forcefully teleported back into the Kaiju King's palace, where she found her grandmother lying unconscious in the center of crowd of monstrous citizens! In an act of desperation, Cindy used the Bloodstone shard that Wilhelmina had granted her to save her grandmother's life!
Young rose from her comatose state soon after, and with her help, Cindy managed to convey her intention to eliminate Varnae to the rest of his victims. Now, the counter-attack can truly begin!
But what will happen to Cindy's friends? Will the Bloodstone have any long-term negative effects on her grandmother? Will Cindy continue to grow additional tails?

You moved without a second thought, stepping in front of Mina and gesturing for Harpy to lower her wing. They all stared at you in mild surprise. “Then I'll have to be the one to disappoint you.” you declared, meeting her burning gaze with a challenging look of your own. “Your people weren't the only ones killed. So any justice on ‘the people's’ behalf will need representation from all of them.” Mina stared down at you for a good long while. You sensed no real malice from her, but you were prepared to act, nonetheless. There was a tense silence, where everyone held their breaths and waited for the other to make a move…and Mina broke the stalemate by taking a large step back, and a deep, calming breath. “Very well. It is as you say.” she conceded, folding herself in a deep, respectful bow. “As much as I despise Varnae and his collaborators, I feel as if it would be remiss of me to challenge your authority after everything you have done here. I, and House Morvayne, are forever in your debt. If you are ever in need, do consider reaching out to us.” Beast's expression didn't change, but you noticed his muscles relax slightly upon learning that he wouldn't be turned into a vampire slave. You smiled warmly at her, and mirrored her gesture. From her bent position, she glanced up at you in surprise. “Same here. I don’t know where we'd be without you. You recognized the threat that Varnae posed, made a plan to save your brother and the rest of the council, and even found a way to trap Varnae and turn his Kaiju against him. We owe you, big-time.” James nodded his agreement, looking a little more present in this conversation. He was also a lot cleaner, thanks to Mina. “You helped me prevent my father from unleashing chaos onto this world. I owe you everything.” he said, turning to bow as well. As her back straightened, Mina’s eyes crinkled, and she placed a hand over her mouth. “So…we're not biting him.” B concluded, disappointment clear in his voice. “Huntsman, just take the vial back.” you requested, not bothering to turn around as you heard the telltale “thwip” of Ben's webs snagging on an object. “We can take a look at it later.” The tension in the room eased considerably, then. That is, until the castle walls shook from the combined, synchronous roar of an undead army. You clapped your hands over your vulpine ears, and Mercy covered your human ones. Everyone else tried to do the same. “THAT MUST BE SIMON'S CUE!” you shouted. “I'VE NEVER BEEN SO HAPPY TO HEAR A ZOMBIE HORDE APPROACHING!” Ben cheered. “WHAT IS GOING ON!? WHAT IS THAT SOUND!?” B screamed aloud. “LOUD. VERY LOUD.” James whined. “WILL SOMEONE PLEASE COVER MY EARS?” Beast requested. “YOUR JUDGEMENT HAS BEEN FORESTALLED LONG ENOUGH.” Ammit boomed, her tail angrily slapping the ground. “BRING ME TO THIS ‘KAIJU KING’ OF WHOM YOU SPEAK.” (Cont.)

At that very moment, a hole opened up in the floor, and Shaggy climbed out. The Spirit Ball was still in his mouth, and the unconscious body of Limbo's ruler was slumped over his back. He gestured for you to come closer, and you nodded. “EVERYONE! FOLLOW ME!” —------ Not long after, the other end Shaggy’s portal opened up, leading you directly into the Kaiju King's castle. Ammit and Khonshu were already waiting here, facing each other with both their arms folded, like a pair of statues. A crowd of Monster citizens gathered at their feet, but no one other than you, Ben and B seemed to notice the Egyptian deities at all. Instead, all their eyes were glued to you. “Why here?” you asked, looking around at everyone. “It was the safest place I could think of.” he mumbled, using his teeth to hold onto his passenger's shirt. He shifted to one side, and gently lowered the unconscious girl onto the cold, hard floor. “Shouldn't we be getting back to the fight?” Ben asked, climbing up alongside you. “I cannot control the Kaiju from here.” Mina admitted, hovering up to step out of the portal. “But, that should not pose a problem, considering the size of Simon's horde. Victory is already at hand.” “If you do not mind me asking,” James began, pulling himself up. “How exactly did you take control of the Kaiju?” “Varnae used blood magic in their creation. By that logic, I assumed that, with careful manipulation, I would be able to send them all into a frenzy.” “That sounds kinda cool.” B offered, still dragging his axe behind him. “What about the ring?” you said. “What ring?” Mina replied, stepping aside so Harpy could fly out of the portal. She still had Beast held in her clutches. “The barrier ring that Varnae used. It was kind of weak for having such a powerful enchantment on it.” you added. “That was not my doing.” “I remember a guy that had a barrier ring. Had to fight an army of demons before I could get to him.” Ben put in. “He got away before we could catch him, though.” Mina paused and glanced over at you. You caught her look, but decided to let the matter rest for now. Because what were the chances of Ben running into Varnae of all people during his Vegas trip? “Why's everyone looking at us like that?” Ben asked, staring around at the monsters that were starting to crowd around you. “I don't like it.” B said. As you got further into the throne room, the crowd began to part, giving you a clear look at the Kaiju King, lying down on a cot placed in front of the steps leading up to his empty throne. You gasped, and everyone stopped dead in their tracks. Everyone except Mina, who put that vampiric speed to good use. She blurred into motion, reaching the King's side in no time. You forced your legs to move, running up to catch up with her. “What happened!?” (Cont.)

His hair was disheveled. And his eyelids were half-closed and fluttering. “I fear that he may not have much time left…” Mina breathed. The King was…dying? >>6296039 Kinda expected this given his state during the attack. We tried to help indirectly by sallying out so more monsters could be safe without his intervention, but it wasn’t enough.
>Tell Shaggy to send you back to the battlefield. If you can find Louise, then maybe her blood can make him better. I’d prefer to listen, but I can back this. If Mina knows any stasis/preservation spells to buy us time that’d be nice. Alternately, if she knows any infusion/restoration spells that burn blood to heal then we’ve probably got enough to spare.

Your eyebrows drew together, and you turned on Shaggy, who was approaching from behind. “Send me back. We need to find Louise and bring her back.” you demanded. “Why? How can she help?” he asked, glancing past you at the Kaiju King. His tail was wagging nervously. “Do you remember that satyr that kept following her around?” Shaggy nodded. “Aye.” “Well, he told me that her blood could heal Grandma Young. I never got a chance to test it, but he really seemed to think that it would work.” “That's a lot of faith to put in a random satyr child, lass.” Shaggy said, raising an inquisitive brow. “Yeah? Well…it's all we've got to go on.” you answered, throwing your hands up in frustration. “If you're going, then so am I.” Ben declared, swinging up beside you. “Me too.” Harpy chimed, crossing over to the group with only a few flaps of her mighty wings. “Nice. We could use some eyes in the sky.” Ben encouraged her. “I am also going.” James volunteered, looking mildly better than he did a few minutes ago. Most of his wounds had closed by now, and there were no discernible bruises on him that you could spot through all that fur. “I remember her scent.” he added, tapping his flat feline nose. “I'll follow your lead, then. My usual tracking methods won't work too well in an active warzone.” you said, before turning to your recently revived vampire friend. “B, do you think you can watch over our prisoner without chopping his head off?” “I'll do my best.” B agreed, seeming to sense the gravity of this situation. You gave him a grateful nod. “Then we'll be back.” you promised. “Shaggy?” “On it.” the dog confirmed, already digging another portal into the ground. “Leave the sword this time, would you? It messes with my accuracy.” You groaned and slipped it off your back. Mercy bound it in cloth, made sure to tie it extra tight, and flung it at B. He caught it effortlessly. “A present? For me?” “Yep. Only, this is the kind that you don't unwrap. And I'm coming back for it.” you shot back, pointing a claw at him. “Worry about yourself. I heard it's bad out there.” “And it'll only get worse if we can't save their King.” “It's not your job to save everyone, Cindy.” You stared up at Khonshu's statue, closed your eyes, and took a deep breath. “I know. But I've gotta try. These people deserve that, at least.” People. Not monsters. Just like humans, everyone down here is just trying their best to survive. Even if Khonshu wasn't entirely concerned with their fate, you knew that there were people here worth saving. “Watch your back out there.” Ben said, stepping closer to the edge of the portal. “That's what I have you for.” “Then who's watching mine?” “Ana, of course. I think she likes your butt.” “I'm aware. That last slap she gave me is gonna leave a mark.” he said, rubbing his rear end. Harpy tilted her head to get a better look at the Huntsman’s backside. Your foster father turned to lock eyes with her, before looking away. (Cont.)

“I might need to start charging for this show.” “It's open.” Shaggy announced, before muttering the word “finally”. “Okay. We each fan out, try to stay alive, find Louise, and regroup wherever this portal dumps us out.” Ben said. James nodded, then paused. “How will we know when one of us finds her?” “We should each send up a signal.” you decided. “I've got foxfire.” You brandished a pale blue flame. “And I've got normal fire.” Ben added, allowing his right arm to be wreathed in green flame. “That does not look very normal.” Jamed denied. “Says the guy without a signal.” Ben joked. James glanced over at Harpy. She was currently lamenting how dull and dingy her shiny bracelets had gotten during all the fighting. “Harpy doesn't count.” Ben put in. “She's a giant bird, so she kinda stands out. All we have to do is look up and we'll probably see her.” There was no arguing with that logic. “I will…figure something out.” James said, unconvincingly. “Maybe you can just have Louise carry you out?” you suggested. “She can fly, after all.” “You hear that? You get a free ride from a hot, french, vampire-slaying, vampire nun.” Ben interjected. “Things are looking up for you already.” “Why is her being a ‘nun’ important?” James asked. “Don't get a lot of porn down here, do ya?” Ben observed. You slapped his arm. “What? He doesn't know what I'm talking about. We could just tell him it's a type of soup, or something.” “I'm pretty sure monsters know what porn is!” you hissed, lowering your voice so the other monsters wouldn't hear you. “But not, like, 100% sure.” “Need I remind you all that the King of our civilization is literally on his deathbed.” Shaggy spoke up. You peeked down at him. He was standing on absolutely nothing at the center of a rift in space. It looked like an ocean without end. The dimensional energy within churned like water, but it felt neither hot nor cold. It would simply sweep you up and carry you somewhere else. “We didn't forget. We just didn't want to go into this thinking about how all these people's lives were going to be severely impacted by the success of this operation–but hey! Thanks for the reminder.” Ben said, preparing to dive down into the portal's opening. “King will owe favor. Big favor.” Harpy squawked, flexing her wings and shaking herself a few stray feathers. “Something tells me you're gonna make a great Desperado.” Ben said with a wink. You shook your head and prepared to jump in. “You ready, Mercy?” “We shall not fail. Especially with our lord watching over us.” “Amen to that.” you said, before jumping right in. —-----

The moment you jumped out of the portal, you hit the ground running. On all fours, this time. You didn’t try to suppress the beastly urges you felt before. It felt good to give into them. To let loose and push yourself to your limits. James was running right alongside you. He even moved with the same animalistic posture, eating up the distance between himself and the battlefield at roughly the same rate as you. Ben and Harpy took to the skies immediately after emerging, while Shaggy remained behind. His job was to portal you all out once you located and retrieved Louise. Although, you wouldn't have minded a bit of help from his super sniffer. You weren’t very practiced at tracking by scent. Up until recently, your nose was only a little sharper than others. No one would give you the time to stop and narrow down the scent trail in the middle of a battle. Even now, with how fast you were moving, all that air was just rushing past your face, not going into your nose so you could process and pick apart the various things you were smelling. Up ahead, you could see that your allies, the forces of the Monster Metropolis, had been steadily pushing Varnae's forces back. That gave you more room to work with, but not by much. Louise might be fighting alongside Ward and the rest of House Morvayne's warriors. That was your only lead. And even then, you would need a way to slip past all these people without being hit, and without being trampled or slowed down in the process. Your stomach flip-flopped at the thought of your group not being able to find her in time. Shaggy was right. If you failed, the Monster Metro would lose their leader. They'd all suffered so much at Varnae's hands. What happened here was nothing short of a war crime. And it might mean the end of their civilization if you couldn't- A small, white blur sped past you, even as you were running full-tilt. Another followed right behind it on your other side. Only, this time, you were able to get a brief glimpse of it. They were…foxes? You squinted at them, somehow managing not to trip in your moment of shock. Yes, they were foxes! Both possessed snow white fur, brighter and more ethereal than your own. They left light trails in their wake, and you got the impression that they were meant to lead you somewhere. These were spirit messengers. The only question was…whose? You risked a quick glance at James, but he didn't seem to be reacting to any of this. Were you the only one that could see it? You returned your gaze to the two foxes, only to see them both sitting and waiting patiently in front of a large group of clashing vampires, their sharp yellow eyes trained on you. Red paint marked their faces. It underlined their eyes, stained their eyebrows, and dotted their foreheads. Their singular tails swayed from side to side in an alternating rhythm, like a pair of metronomes set to the exact same beat, but moving opposite to each other.

Against your better judgment, you decided to see where this would lead you. Your parents warned you about following strange spirit messengers, let alone foxes, but you didn’t have anything better to go on right now. Maybe this was another Kumiho power? You skidded to a halt, surprising James, and allowing him to pass you up. Your eyes scanned the skies for the giant bird lady that you knew would be there, and you found her in no time. You put two fingers in your mouth, let out a sharp whistle, and threw a foxfire bolt at her. It didn't hit her, of course. That wasn't what you were trying to do. You only wanted her attention. As the foxfire bolt flew past her, she craned her neck to see you jumping up and down, flagging her down. “HEY! SORRY! I NEED A LIFT!” you shouted, waving your arms, and pointing up. Harpy wasted no time in circling back, swooping down, and extending her talons to snatch you up. You started running again, on two legs this time, and ignored the spike of adrenaline you felt from seeing this monster of a raptor descend upon you. She passed overhead with a rush of air, and that was nearly enough to bowl you over right then and there. You somehow maintained your footing as Harpy swung back, flapped her wings to slow herself down, hooked her claws under your bandages and took off. The sudden shift in momentum was almost enough to make you dizzy, but nearly all of your attention was reserved for the twin messengers, who were now weaving their way through the battlefield. “Go that way!” you shouted over the sound of the wind. They should have been harder to keep track of in all this chaos, but it was almost as if the world had lost focus, and the light that the foxes gave off stood out more than anything, or anyone else. Harpy followed your instructions, swinging you around so that your eyes never lost sight of the little messengers. After a few minutes of this, the spirit messengers finally found what they were looking for. And, to your great relief, it ended up being exactly what YOU were looking for! In the middle of where the foxes were circling, Louise fought side by side with Ward. Corpses littered the ground before them, and House Morvayne's mercenaries had formed a defensive circle around them. From what you could guess, Varnae's forces marked the two as high value targets. But instead of falling back, they were using themselves as bait, and then collapsing on anyone who was foolish enough to make an attempt on either of their lives. Louise was a force to be reckoned with. She was a whirlwind of death, barely contained by House Morvayne's defensive formation. With her abilities and the current state of this army, you felt like she would sooner die of exhaustion than at the hands of an inferior enemy.

The vampire mercenaries were fairly impressive as well. They were few in number, but their coordination was on a whole other level compared to any of the other soldiers present. They were a well oiled machine, parrying, striking and maneuvering their opponents with practiced ease. Ben might’ve been tempted to offer some of these vamps a job if he were here to see this. And then there was Mina’s brother, Ward. You didn’t think very much of Ward, but you had to admit, the guy could seriously take a hit. His body was covered in wooden splinters, and countless arrows sprouted from multiple points on his body. He was actively pushing them out by shifting his bones around, but he wasn't at all focused on attacking. The guy was using his absurd body as a meat shield, eating hits in order to open up tougher opponents, soaking up arrows for his allies, and breaking through enemy defenses by charging straight through them. Ward's strategy seemed to be entirely based on leveraging his tankiness to act as a living distraction. It was surprisingly effective. “There. LOUISE!” you shouted down at her. The Nightguard's ears perked up, and she paused to stare up at you in shock. “Petit Cindy! What are you doing up there?” “We need your help! The Kaiju King's sick, and he needs your blood!” Her eyes widened, and she looked like she wanted to ask more questions. But she must have noticed the urgency in your voice, because she flew up to meet you right away. She turned to stare down at House Morvayne's warriors. “I must go!” “Then go. Leave the rest to us.” Ward reassured her. With that, she nodded, and the three of you flew off to rejoin Shaggy and the others. Along the way, you gave Louise a quick rundown of the events that transpired in her absence, all while firing off foxfire-crackers to signal the rest of the team to retreat. You briefly glanced back at the unfolding battle, just to see whether you could spot James in all this commotion. And what you saw made your blood run cold. A lone, slender figure with fair skin walked throughout the battlefield, unimpeded by any standing in her way, and largely unconcerned with the events taking place around her. She had long, straight white hair, a pair of triangular vulpine ears, and a bundle of nine fluffy tails the same color as her hair. And before you lost sight of her completely, you could have sworn that she turned back, locked eyes with you, and gave you a teasing wink. —-------- As much as you wanted to circle back and search for the Kumiho, you didn’t have time to waste. It was a miracle that you had found Louise and made it back to Shaggy in the first place. Or…perhaps not. Those spirit messengers hadn’t belonged to you. And if they didn’t, then that meant that they belonged to someone else. And since you didn’t see any other Kumiho in the area, you could only assume that…

Could it truly have been Ami Han? How could she be here if she had been banished by your parents? Was it an illusion? Even if it was, what reason could she possibly have for helping you? Was there some way she benefited from all this? “Cindy.” Ben’s voice snapped you out of your reverie. He was staring right at you. He seemed to be the only one who was, because everyone else’s eyes were glued to Louise as she swept over to the Kaiju King, a silver dagger in her hand. “You okay?” he asked. You blinked a few times, and then glanced between him, Shaggy, Harpy and James. Everyone had made it back somehow. The latter hadn’t come out of it unscathed, but he was, at the very least, still alive. Maybe that was all you could ask for. “Yeah. I’m fine.” you lied, unsure of whether you wanted to go over what you saw out there. There was a lot happening. Maybe you just imagined it. And if you didn’t, maybe now wasn’t the best time to bring it up. Not when the King’s fate was still up in the air. Louise reached down to caress the King’s face with a hand. She gave him a pitying look, and then brought her hand up to meet the edge of the silver dagger. She dragged the blade across her skin and let out a pained hiss. Gold fluid spilled from the open wound, trailing down her arm, and dripping onto the floor. This caught Mina’s attention right away. She was, predictably, greatly interested in this aspect of Louise. So were you. No one could take their eyes off her as she scooped the King up in her hands, carried him over to the stairs leading up to his throne, and sat down with him in her lap. She had the dying man swaddled in her dark cloak. It was such a tender, motherly gesture, that it caught you off guard. Everyone gasped, and there were countless murmurs among those present when Louise brought her wrist to the King’s mouth. She pressed the open, bleeding wound against his lips, and gently rubbed at his throat, causing him to swallow whatever had been flowing through her veins. Mina monitored the situation very closely, not even blinking for fear of what she might miss. Everyone collectively held their breaths, wondering whether there had been any credence to the satyr’s claims. This long, tense silence stretched on for several more minutes, before Mina turned to give her assessment. “The King’s condition has stabilized. We should be able to keep him alive until proper medical attention can be administered.” she reported.

At Louise’s prompting, some of the monsters turned back to look at you expectantly. Before you got a chance to second guess yourself, you started moving towards her. They made space for you. Their eyes were still full of awe. A few of them muttered about wanting to know the outcome of your battle with Varnae. You pretended they weren't there. In that moment, you only had eyes for Louise and the King. Upon reaching her, you slipped an arm around her shoulder and pulled her into a hug. She leaned her head against your chest, a single streak of gold running from one eye, even as she smiled. You gave her a gentle kiss on the top of her head and rubbed her shoulder. “Thank you.” you whispered, before leaning away to give her and the King a bit more room. "You always pull through when I really need you." For a second, she looked like she wanted to undercut this moment by expressing humility. But when she looked out at all the monsters singing her praises, she had a hard time getting the words out. All she managed was a shaky nod. The name “Goldblood” saw more use now than you thought it ever did before you showed up. What Louise had done was nothing short of a miracle. An undead, a denizen of the night, had nourished a living being with her blood. You've never seen anything like this before. The only conclusion that you could draw was that she had mutated into a new variant of vampire. Either that, or Marc's vampiric secretary was more special than either of you knew. But none of that mattered right now. Because, despite Varnae's efforts, the Monster Metropolis was still standing. This event had been an undeniable tragedy, as there were countless lives lost, but, even so… You stared out at the jubilant faces of monsters that adored their human king. And then, your eyes traveled between the vampires on either side of you. On your left stood Mina, a calculating Nosferatu blood mage. She didn’t smile often, and when she did, she usually hid it behind her hand. Except now, that is. She had, at some point, wrapped a red cloth around the lower half of her face. It was frilled with lace, and matched the color of her dress. Did she wear that to formal events? On your right, Louise sat with the Kaiju King in her lap. She was apparently the only one keeping him alive right now. You laughed at the thought of a vampire that refused to feed on humans, feeding a human her own blood. It was almost as ironic as a vampire hunting turning into a vampire, but that wasn't terribly uncommon these days. And then…there was you. The way people looked at you now, you saw respect in their eyes. You showed them your strength, and your willingness to help them, above all else. Louise may have been the one to save their King, but you were the one who slayed their worst enemy. What you had proven during your time here, was that you were an ally to the Monster Metropolis. And, for today, that might have to be enough. —------ (Cont.)

Scorekeeper !!qcHMjYPsvED ID:73/cwJIx Tue 02 Sep 2025 14:29:21 No. 6300514 Report Soon after medical attention had arrived for the King and the Ruler of Limbo, news from the battlefront reached everyone's ears. According to Shaggy, Varnae's army declared their surrender upon having been routed by Simon's undead and the Were-Tribes. Most of them were on their way back, but House Morvayne and the Amazons were staying behind to secure Varnae's castle. Your popularity had also skyrocketed upon everyone learning about the key role you played in this battle. They were crowding around you, asking you all sorts of questions about your fight, and your personal life. Louise had it worse, but you weren't used to being thanked this profusely for performing your duty. You looked to Ben for help, but he was busy talking with Ana after Shaggy portaled her back to the palace. The aforementioned Huntress was gesturing animatedly, regaling him of her most recent kills. Harpy was staring intently at a globule of Louise’s blood, which was hovering over Mina’s hand as she spoke to James about something. It looked and sounded serious. The lab-grown mutant was bent at a near perfect 90 degree angle in a respectful bow towards her. B was still watching over Beast like you asked, but he looked rather bored, given the energy in the room. Delphyne and Carnelian came through the portal, side by side. Neither Ward, nor Simon were anywhere to be seen. The latter's absence was mostly due to the part they inadvertently played in the zombie invasion, though. You genuinely hoped the people of Monster Metropolis could find it in their hearts to forgive them someday. Eventually, your eyes found Deadhead in the corner of the room, standing alone as he tried reattaching his fingers. It looked like someone or something had chewed them off. What will you do?>Use this as an opportunity to draw people's attention to Khonshu. You might be able to make your new fans into your god's new followers. >Approach Louise with a proposition. If she would be willing to provide worship to Khonshu, then he would certainly bless her as he has you. >Go up and get Delphyne's number. >>6300518 voted for it) and see if we can wave Louise over while we patch him up. Once Louise is over, ask her if she’d be willing to stick around/visit the area to proselytize. With how much they respect her, she could likely find some converts and monsters willing to join our fight. Then pop the question about learning how to worship Khonshu for her own benefit, for additional pull (some monsters will be more interested in “The Slayer’s” religion instead of “The Goldblood’s”), and as a favor to us since we’ll struggle to balance school and everything else on top of this.
I’m okay with her preaching however she wants, and she can keep her god first and foremost. There’s going to be monsters who want to make sure this never happens to the Monster Metropolis again though, and someone with institutional knowledge of how a vampire-slaying organization is run could build something to channel that drive better than we could.
We can even joke about being her first recruit. Our god backs us, but we’re not exactly a good fit with all his disciples. They’re used to slaying monsters like us, not working with them. An organization that pushes back on that narrative in some small way would be welcome.

It took every ounce of social grace you had left, but you somehow managed to navigate your way through the crowd of people filling up the palace. Some were being escorted out and back down into the Metropolis. Hopefully, the medical tents and shelters were still holding up during all this. You liked to imagine that Varnae didn't have some insane backup plan in place, but at this point, you wouldn’t put it past him. If he was as good a fighter as he was a schemer, you might have been in serious trouble. With some careful maneuvering, and the bright idea of playing up the Goldblood's role in saving the king, you were able to divert the attention of some of your fans. The rest just got lost in the crowd, since they had no actual idea where you were going. You nearly lost your balance after squeezing past a particularly bottom-heavy troll, and Deadhead turned to stare at you as you quickly spread your tails out to regain your balance. “Got another one, huh?” he asked, pausing in his task of reattaching his fingers. You frowned at him…and then realized that you could feel an additional tail sticking out of your backside. “Ugh! Not another one!” you growled. You hadn't even felt that one! Did this have anything to do with that Kumiho you saw? You had better tell Ben, just in case. For now, though, you were just gonna try your best to hide it by bundling them together. “Does it hurt?” “Nah. Mostly just itchy.” you said, reaching a hand back to feel around your tailbone. “Does that hurt?” You pointed at his hand. He shrugged. “Like a bitch.” he said, his casual tone betraying his words. “Ehehe.” you chuckled. “Here let me.” You stretched out a hand, and Mercy’s tendrils extended to snatch his fingers right out of his good hand. He hesitated for only a moment, but he relaxed when he realized what you were doing. “Oh. Thanks. Again.” he amended. “It's no problem.” you assured him, watching as Mercy rapidly knit his flesh together. “You're a real sweetheart for stitching me up like this. I didn't even have to ask.” “You don't have to.” you said, turning your eyes up at him. “Even if it was only for a paycheck, you helped save a lot of lives today. That means something.” “And what's that?” “It means that you're a hero, dummy.” you replied with a smile. Deadhead froze, and you got the impression that the face he was making under that mask was one of puzzlement. “People won't forget what you did here today. That includes me, and Khonshu.” “The King of the Moon.” he said, nodding slowly. “God.” you and Mercy uttered at the same time. Deadhead must have felt the vibrations of Mercy’s voice too, because his whole hand twitched. “Oh, what was that?” "Don't worry about it." you said quickly. “Anyway,” you went on. “Like the Huntsman said, you didn't have to stick around. But you did. And that makes you a good guy–if not a decent one.” (Cont.)

You stared down at his hand to admire Mercy’s stitchwork. The black thread that she left around his fingers was an oddly decent fashion choice for the zombie mercenary. “You know…Khonshu's current Avatar was like you once. A mercenary, I mean.” “Uh-huh…” “He hurt people, and did all sorts of bad things for money. But Khonshu gave him an opportunity to redeem himself. He was reborn, and now he uses his skills and resources to help people.” “And does he get paid for this gig?” Deadhead asked. “It pays in…other ways.” you tried. “Let me guess. He's rich in spirit?” “Kind of. Khonshu can bring him back to life.” “No kidding? Good for him. Too bad I've already got that covered, though.” he said with a shrug. “Money can't buy everything, you know. I happen to remember you saying that you had people that you wanted to protect from Varnae.” He had no quick reply for that, so you kept going. “If you could save a single life, and all you had to give up was a single paycheck, then it's an easy decision.” “That paycheck keeps the lights on, the house warm, and puts food on the table. People need that too.” he countered. Mercy retracted her tendrils and you turned to face the crowd of monsters. “Do any of these people here look like they're worrying about where their next meal is coming from? They're just happy to be alive.” Flexing his newly fixed hand, Deadhead also turned to stare at them. “Reality will creep back in eventually. A lot of these people are probably gonna end up homeless. They'll be standing in bread lines for months.” he intoned, his voice taking on a note of bitterness. “I wouldn't be so quick to judge if I were you.” he warned, his voice dropping a few octaves. “It'll get you into big trouble someday.” “Then they'll tackle it a day at a time. Just like everyone else. The living have the luxury to dream for a better tomorrow.” you said. “I envy your ability to give a shit.” You gave him an admonishing look out of the corner of your eye. “Says the guy who stayed behind to save lives and fight against an army of vampires, zombies and giant monsters.” He shook his head. “I dunno what you're talking about. I just wanted to kick the shit out of that asshole Varnae. Too bad you beat me to it.” he claimed. “Well…if it makes you feel any better, I captured him in a Pokéball so I can make him suffer for everything he's done.” “That does make me feel better. I could give you some ideas if you want.” he offered. “Maybe later. You still have the Huntsman’s card, right?” He gave the side of his helmet a solid smack. “It's still rattling around in here somewhere. After I give him a call, feel free to get my number from him.” “Couldn't you just give it to me now?” “I don't like to make a habit of giving my number out to minors.” he explained. “Because they don't have any money.” “I'm not exactly flush with cash either, you know.” (Cont.)

“Yeah, but you're the granddaughter of a respected elder down here, the daughter of a respected monster hunter-” Your eyes went wide slightly. “Yeah, I pay attention. Where was I? Oh, yeah.” he said, before continuing. “You're also the savior of this whole damn city–maybe even the savior of the one up top–and you just helped save the life of their king, right after taking out the very first vampire and the ruler of some hell dimension.” “Limbo.” you corrected. “Alright, I zoned out a bit sometimes.” he amended. “Point is, you may not be a big name right at this very moment, but you're definitely going to be somebody when you grow up.” “Someone with cash.” He shot a finger gun at you and clicked tongue. “That's right. I'm thinking of getting in on the ground floor.” You chuckled and reached over to pat him on the arm. “I'm flattered, but if money's what you're after, that's the guy you should be talking to.” you advised, pointing Ben out of the crowd. “Try to become his friend, not his customer. He treats his friends very well.” “Can't I do both?” he asked. “I guess you can. Just don't go blabbing about all that stuff you overheard.” “What stuff?” “Exactly.” you said with a wink. “Speaking of phone numbers, I should go get Delphyne's.” “Yeah, me too.” Deadhead said, attempting to follow you. “I've got a policy that says hot snake ladies get a discount.” “Good luck getting through this crowd. Especially when YOU'RE THE GUY THAT HELPED SAVE ALL THOSE INNOCENT PEOPLE DURING THE ZOMBIE INVASION!” you shouted through cupped hands, before slipping into the crowd. “Dude, I'm right here. You don't have to yell.” Immediately, every monster within earshot turned to look at Deadhead. The ones who recognized him spread the word of his heroism, and very soon, they were all moving to surround him. “Ah! Hey! Out of my way! I've got green babes to chat up!” You snickered as you crept away from the growing scene. Your white hair and fur made that difficult, but not impossible. There were a few creatures in the crowd with fur as white as yours. All you had to do was loop your way past them and use them as decoys. There were, of course, those that had decent enough senses to track you through all this mess, despite your efforts. And since Dephyne already had more than a few admirers, your presence only added to the amount of people watching her. “Hey Delphyne!” you greeted her. The Gorgon's face lit up as soon as she saw you emerge from the crowd. She was still wearing her armor. Only, her helmet was being held under one arm. The people who had been crowding her respectfully retreated to make room for you. It was a weird feeling. “Cindyyyyy! Hey girl! You really killed it out there. And by ‘it’, I mean that crusty old flying rat.” she said, stepping forward to pull you into a tight hug. (Cont.)

“Thanks! I couldn't have done it without you guys. I'm just glad its all over.” you said, your voice slightly muffled by the face full of green cleavage you were getting. Your face was starting to feel hot all of a sudden. “And I'm just glad I didn't end up zombie food.” she joked, her yellow eyes staring down at you lovingly. “I mean, seriously. We owe you, like, big time. If you ever want to drop by my village, I'll make you an honorary Amazon.” “Whoa, really!?” She nodded and released you from her grasp “Yes, really. It's, like, the least that we can do.” “I would love to! But first, we should exchange numbers.” you suggested. Her eyes sparkled at the suggestion. “Ohmigod YAAASSSSSS!” she hissed excitedly. “Say LESS, girlfriend! I've been needing new people to text.” She whipped her phone out so fast that you could barely tell where she had been keeping it. Her fingers blurred as she typed in your information, and she even grabbed hold of you to take a group selfie for your profile pic. You threw up a piece sign and gave her your best smile. The picture came out great, and Delphyne seemed to think so too, because she let out a giddy squeal and pranced in place. Even her snakes were undulating jubilantly.>Delphyne Gorgon has been added to Cindy's Contact List “This is gonna be SO much fun! We can talk late into the night, text each other between raids.” “Go on a shopping spree…” you added. Delphyne audibly gasped, nearly dropping her precious phone as she raised both hands to cover her mouth. She crossed the distance between you in a flash, enveloping you in a tight embrace. “Mm! I'm totally gonna steal you from Young. Don't try to talk me out of it. I've already made up my mind…” she moaned, rubbing her cheek against your ears. “Ehehe~! That tickles! Don't sniff me!” You both laughed. The fluff-huffing unfortunately didn't last that long, since there were more and more people gathering to get a look at ‘the Amazon Queen forming strong ties with the Slayer’. This made sneaking away difficult, of course, so you decided to go in the opposite direction, and use Del's authority to make room for you to move about more freely. “Now that you mention her, where is Grandma Young?” you asked. “Still escorting the Metro's army back here. She said she'd come by later to check in with you.” Del offered, walking as fast as the parting crowd would allow. “But that'll take days. I really wanted to see her before I leave.” you whined. “Don't you worry your fuzzy little head. She'll portal back when the army, like, takes a second to set up camp.” Del assured you. “I bet she'll be back after the palace clears out a bit.” Your ears perked up at that. You opened your mouth to reply, but the sight of Beast's bound form and Belasco’s wicked looking axe stole your attention. (Cont.)

“Sorry for making you wait. It can't be fun to just sit around after you went through all the trouble of coming back to life.” “Nah, it's cool. This was a part of the deal, after all.” he said with a shrug. His head turned, and your eyes followed his gaze until you were both staring out at the procession of monsters gathered here. Again, he was mentioning that ‘deal’. “Hey…are you really back, or is this an ‘as-needed’ thing?” “Think of it like contract work, or being on call.” he said, leaning on his axe. “Whenever I'm not getting picked up for a job, they said that I'm pretty much free to do whatever I would normally do.” Your ears perked up. “So you'll be sticking around for a while?” you asked hopefully. “After this is all sorted, sure. I'll help you sneak out of your folks’ place, and we can hang out. Just like old times.” There was so much to unpack in that one statement, that you had no choice but to laugh. B gave you an odd look, but decided not to pursue the matter. You gave a cautious glance back at Beast, who was still sitting patiently. “What exactly are you supposed to do for Ammit? Chop his head off if she finds him guilty?” B shifted uncomfortably. “The axe is…mostly optional.” You raised an eyebrow at him. “Mostly?” “The outcome can vary, based on the situation. In situations like this, we've left the decision to the Kaiju King.” B explained. “Once he wakes up, and if he says that he wants me to take care of the big guy myself…” He used a sharp thumbnail to draw a line across his neck. You nodded slowly. “And who gets to decide most of the time?” “Whenever I'm not on the clock, Ammit will be handling her own business. But when she calls, it'll be my turn to make the tough calls.” “What would you do if it was up to you?” “Personally? Let's just say that if this guy had to my first victim, I wouldn't feel too bad about it.” You wanted to ask what his plan was if he wasn't willing to use the big scary axe, but the conversation was starting to take a dark turn, and you didn't want to spend the rest of your time talking about this. “It'll be the Kaiju King's problem when he wakes up. I'm sure he'll have his own punishment in mind.” you said, turning your back to his prisoner. “I'm more worried about how long you were going to wait to tell me that you've been interning for a god. It would've been nice to receive a sign before I went to your funeral.” He gave you a slightly sheepish smile. “Believe me. I would have if I could. I was honestly in disbelief about the whole thing for a while. The most I knew about these guys was from what you told me, and here they were deciding my fate.” “Looks like I've got another friend in the divine servitude business. “Whatever. Most of those guys out there are glory hogs looking for crimes that'll get them the most press coverage. They rope you into their inner circle, and then they steal your credit and say ‘This was a team victory’.” You gave him a flat look. “Didn’t know you were such an expert.” “You'd be surprised what I know.” “Like what's in the afterlife. Except, you conveniently aren't allowed to tell me anything.” you said. “You saw what Ammit did to that guy earlier. I'm not taking any chances while she's still breathing down my neck.” “Aww, you scared?” you teased. “I'm not scared. Just being cautious, is all.” he said, sounding a bit touchy. “Well, you'll have all the time in the world to tell me later. We've got a lot to catch up on.” He gave a laugh that exposed his fangs. “I bet. Can’t wait to hear the story behind your new look.” Yeah. You too. “It's good to have you back, B.” you said with a warm smile. “Good to be back, Moon Girl. I'm glad yours was the first face I saw. Even if it was behind a mask.” You went in for a hug, and B opened one arm to welcome you into the embrace. It was the most outward display of intimacy that you could remember him showing in a long time. You guess coming back from the dead will do that to a person. It puts things in perspective. You leaned away from him and took a few steps back. “Call me when you get a new phone. I'm sure Morbius can get you one easy.” “I hope they came out with a new Nokia while I was dead.” You rolled your eyes at him and turned to walk away. “Such a hipster.” you muttered. “Hey! You take that back.” he called after you. “Bye, B!” you shouted back, waving a hand at him without bothering to turn back around. His voice was quickly lost in the crowd as you made your way over to where you last saw Ben. It didn't take long for you to find him. There were only a few people in this room that were getting a lot of attention from the locals. Despite Ben not being in the spotlight for a terribly long time during this event, he was still recognized as someone who had gone out of their way to defeat Varnae's Kaiju and defend everyone from not only the Brood, but also Simon's zombies. Right now, he was casually chatting with a family of merfolk. Ana wasn't with him, but you could sense that she was still nearby. Maybe she went to go find Delphyne. “No, I'm not actually related to any Were-Spiders. At least…I don't think so.” Ben pondered aloud. As soon as he noticed you approaching, he stopped what he was doing and waved you over. “Hey Slay-” You quickly shushed him. “Quiet! I don't need everyone knowing where I am.” you urged, signaling Mercy to wrap your head with more fabric. With a bit of work, she had flattened your ears under a hood, and bundled your tails together under a long dress she had made for you. It wasn't her best outfit idea, but it wasn't the weirdest thing you've seen someone wear down here. (Cont.)

“Sorry, could you give us a minute?” Ben asked the Merfolk. They were a bit hesitant to leave, but they eventually obliged. Your guardian returned his attention to you after they were out of earshot. “What's up? You enjoying all this hero worship?” “Not really. I wish I could disappear.” you said, pulling your hood lower. “Not before saying goodbye to your grandma. Where is she, anyway?” “Marching the Metro's army back here. Sounds like it could take days.” “Then maybe we'll just have to come back and visit when things calm down a little more.” he suggested. “Or…she could come and see us. With that magic talking dog of hers, she could come visit anytime she wants. Vic's house has lots of space.” You smiled up at him and shook your head. “Thanks. I'd like that. But that's not the reason I came over to talk to you.” You lifted your skirt a bit, and allowed the tips of all four of your tails to peek out from the bottom. Ben’s eyes widened. “Damn. Another one?” You nodded and let your skirt fall back into place. “And that's not all.” you went on. “Back when we went to get Louise, I saw something. A pair of spirit messengers–two white foxes–guided me to her. And when me and Louise turned to leave, I saw a Kumiho walking across the battlefield. She even turned and winked at me.” Ben's brow furrowed, and his hands clenched into fists. “It has to be her, right? That Ami Han lady.” “She's supposed to be banished. It's more likely that it was an illusion.” you concluded. “An illusion that was placed conveniently at your location, and knew to look back and wink at you.” Ben added. “Either someone's messing with you, or this fox lady can still cast illusions wherever she is.” “What I wanna know is why she would try to help me. How's that benefit her?” you pondered aloud. “Maybe she saw Varnae as a threat too.” Ben posited. “But we already defeated him. And Belasco got eaten already.” you said. “She might not have known all that. But she did know where to find you.” You let out a thoughtful hum. “If she wanted to help, then why did she wait so long to do it?” Ben shrugged. “Would you have taken her help if you had any other choice?” he asked. You frowned at that. That possibility implied that this unnamed Kumiho was not only capable of keeping tabs on you, but could track you so well as to create remote illusions, without even needing to be present in the area. Or…maybe she was. Maybe she was here right now, still watching and waiting. “Cindy.” You blinked, and then stared at the hand he had placed on your shoulder. “We'll figure this out. You've got me, your mom and your grandma. They're supposed to be experts when it comes to this magic mumbo jumbo.” “A heathen he might be, but a reliable guardian nonetheless.” Mercy decided. You nodded slowly and let out a breath that was only a little shaky. “Yeah. I'm sure they can help.” (Cont.)

He gave your arm a reassuring squeeze. Then, out of nowhere, a portal opened up in a remote corner of the room. Everyone who saw it froze and turned the rest of the way around to stare. You felt Ben's muscles tense through the bit of contact you shared, and you were right there with him. What could it possibly be this time…? A lone figure emerged from the portal. Female. And familiar! Pandora Peters panned her gaze around the room, a single unbound brown curl swaying as she turned her head. The rest of her hair was pulled back into a ponytail, clipped by an ornate golden cylinder. She wasn't wearing her usual uniform. Instead, she wore a sleeveless gray hoodie and black trenchcoat. And from the look of those boots she was wearing, she at least had the bottom half of her uniform on. She cleared her throat and raised a wand to her lips. The tip began to glow white. “Excuse me. Can anyone here tell me what the hell's been going on? Where's the King?” she asked, her voice somehow amplified by the wand she held. This caused everyone else to quiet down, and the crowd shifted to identify the source of this new disturbance. Mina was the first to step forward, and the others parted to allow her through. “Good evening, Ms. Peters. The King is currently indisposed. He is currently not in the best condition, so I will be acting on his behalf.” Pandora stepped forward, her eyes fixing on Mina. “You're on the council. I also see the Amazon Queen and the Were-Tribe leader. But what I don’t see are any Kaiju.” “They are indisposed as well.” Mina noted. “Doing what?” “Give us a break, Peters! We just fought a damn war!” That came from Ben, who had decided that now was a good time to insert himself in the situation. Pandora took a deep breath before turning to address your foster father. “Huntsman. Since when have you been coming to the Metropolis? Most people don't even know that it exists.” Ben shrugged and folded his arms. “Oh, you know me. I'm just a well-connected guy.” Pandora gave him a thin-lipped smile. “That has been my experience, yes.” she said, a tad begrudging, you thought. “Maybe you'd like to explain all this, then.” “I could. But…only if you say the magic words.” Pandora's smile grew even more brittle. “Come on. You're the head of S.H.I.E.L.D's magic division.” he goaded her. “Surely you know the magic words. I know everyone here does.” The monsters’ murmured their general agreement, while others began to chuckle. Pandora took another steadying breath, replaced her wand in its holster, and clapped her hands together. “Would you please tell me what's going on.” she said, sounding at least a little convincing in her sincerity. “Gladly.” Ben agreed, stepping closer to her. You saw Pandora mouth the words "thank you". “To make matters brief, these people have been getting terrorized by a warlord named Skul that's been threatening them with a Kaiju army. Except, this guy was just a figurehead, and the one really behind the creation of these Kaiju were Beast, of the X-Men, and none other than Varnae, first of the vampires.” Pandora waited a beat, and when she realized that Ben wasn't joking, her expression grew grave. “You all fought Varnae.” “And won.” Ben put in, before turning to- Was…he pointing at- “And she's the one who dealt the killing blow.” DANG IT, BEN! With everyone's attention firmly locked on you again, you had no choice but to remove your hood. Upon revealing yourself, the other monsters rejoiced at the sight of their “savior”. Pandora squinted, and you saw recognition in her eyes. “Is that right? She looks a little different from when I last saw her.” You waved at her, feeling a bit nervous, and very self-conscious in this last-minute disguise. “Hey, Ms. Peters.” Her gaze softened somewhat. “Hey, kid. How's the voice?” “Back to normal. Mostly.” you offered. “Heh. Yeah, puberty will do that to you. Though, it looks like you're going through something else right now. Demon heritage?” “Something like that. It's sort of a new development.” you said, flexing your claws. “Well…if there's ever anything you need to know, you can reach out to me. I don’t know if you own a raven or an enchanted mirror, but-” “What's going on here?” Delphyne cut in, emerging from the crowd to stand beside Mina. Carn came up from behind, taking her other side. The room was starting to get cramped again, as the procession of bodies had stopped filing out of the palace and into the city in favor of staying behind to watch the drama unfold. “Hey Delphyne.” Ben waved. “I was just telling this lady about how Cindy slew Varnae, and stopped him and Belasco from opening a gaping hole in Limbo for demons to pour out of.” Pandora held her hands up. “Hold on. Run that by me again.” “Sure thing.” Ben agreed. “Right after you say the magic words. I just love the way they sound coming out of your mouth. Like music to my ears.” Pandora didn't bother to hide her glare this time. (To Be Continued...)

There will be a few more updates in the next thread to round things out and ease back into Ben's perspective. I would have liked to squeeze a little more content out of this thread, but there isn't much to be done when we're falling off of page 10. I hope you guys have enjoyed this mini-campaign. I probably should have planned for it to be shorter. It also got a bit tricky to write regular updates when I was in the process of moving to a new house. But we powered through it! Cindy got a healthy boost to her already considerable abilities, both she and Ben made some new friends, and the Desperados even got a brand new recruit out of the deal! Now that the arc is ending, what did you guys like or dislike about it? Are there any characters that you'd like to see return? Would you like to see more mini-campaigns like this? And, if so, would you like me to narrow the scope of them? Be sure to let me know, if you have any questions or opinions. The next thread will be up by Sunday morning. I'm thinking of making it Halloween themed, depending on how things proceed after the gang returns to New York.

>>6304424 thanks for the run! i quite liked this arc, cindy is a great protagonist and seeing ben from another perspective is also really fun. my favorite bits were the reunion with mom and the one with grandma, really the most important developments. but everything in the monster metropolis was also great, it truly felt like we were making a difference with our choices: particularly anon's idea of giving young the bloodstone shard, that was great thinking. on the not so good side, it sucks that a few characters kinda got sidelined but that's to be expected when there's so many of them.
reminder for next thread: we GOTTA find louise before leaving, get a bit of her blood and we could cure our dad this same day. show it to pandora too, that could be a game changer right there

>>6304424 Page 10 already? Feels like it was page 7 not that long ago.
I enjoyed the different perspective. We got to play around with a through-and-through hero compared to Ben’s checkered style, and she went in different directions than I expected. We doubled-down on her religion, even if we didn’t triple-down by bringing in Louise and trying to make a monster sect of our monster-slaying god. The up-and downs with Mina and saving our grandmother stand out as my favorite moments.
For things I disliked, I’m not sure how I feel about the number of power boosts Cindy got out of this. Makes sense that a mini-campaign would compress things, but I suspect she’d have a decent chance of beating Ben if they both went all-out. If she can’t do it now, she’ll definitely get there soon as she’s still got plenty to room to learn about her powers.
That said, it’s just one more funny/upsetting thing for Ben to realize later. Kid’s got way too much power and responsibility riding on her at her age, and it’s hard to say how much is really her choice when she was raised to do this from an early age and Slayer/Ami Han nonsense is built-in.
Path-not-traveled question, could we have interacted more with Cradle or Ami Han? I’m guessing leaving Mercy behind could have given mom an excuse to call us back if Mercy went hostile, and bringing out more tails could have meant speaking with Ami Han. I hoped Cindy could chat with Liberty on faith since they both get it, but that never panned out.
I’m good with more mini-campaigns. I’d want them shorter as they get further from the center of Ben’s circle though. Maybe Flint or Callisto for longer ones, and Cat for a short one? Short stint with Harpy at the biomedical company? Could also do short ones for people like Vulture if you want to make them relevant for an upcoming arc.

>>6304424 >Are there any characters that you'd like to see return? okay returning to this, we saved Magick and we didn't even get to talk to her so we better get some closure someday. harpy, deadhead, shaggy and young i really liked but we are definitely seeing more of them so... bring back mekara
>Would you like to see more mini-campaigns like this? And, if so, would you like me to narrow the scope of them? sure, i had fun but this kinda took a while (though that just comes with the format)
>>6304883 >For things I disliked, I’m not sure how I feel about the number of power boosts Cindy got out of this. i'm not all that broken up about the powerups, cindy felt kinda frail before. ben had a few on the las vegas arc too, though we got those out of our choices
>That said, it’s just one more funny/upsetting thing for Ben to realize later. i mean, hasn't he realized already? since he met the moon god she's sworn to. i say it's basically the whole reason why he is still taking care of cindy and showing her the life of a normal teenager. in a (not really)subversion of the spider-man mythos, uncle ben is the one to say "no, you SHOULDN'T have this responsibility" or at least don't take it alone

I worried that I might have been dragging my feet with this one, but I also think that rushing through the story hurts the overall quest's story.
>>6304608 Cindy's reunion with her mom was a long time coming. It was tricky to find the right timing for it, but I also needed to make sure that her return had some real weight to the story, and to Cindy's emotional state.
>>6304899 >>6304608 I'm glad that Young Moon's introduction to the story was well-received! She's one of the first Masters of Chi that you've seen in action. Cindy has missed out on these family connections, and her forgiving her grandmother really fits in with a key theme that both she and Daredevil share. Due to their beliefs, they both believe in redemption. That's why, despite knowing that Ben is a criminal, both of them are able to see past his occupation to the man underneath. They believe that he's capable of more. Similarly, Cindy chose to focus on the relationship she could build with her grandmother, and not the neglect that she's suffered.
Giving Young the Bloodstone shard was a great idea, too! It was a pleasant surprise to see you anons voting for it so early. Truly a noble and heroic deed!
>For things I disliked, I’m not sure how I feel about the number of power boosts Cindy got out of this. If she can’t do it now, she’ll definitely get there soon as she’s still got plenty to room to learn about her powers. I've been considering this as well. It's a valid concern. Cindy has received a lot over these past few days. She's faster and stronger than she's ever been, but still not quite at Ben's level. Her enhanced physical attributes will allow her a fighting chance when pitted against superhumans, but she's not strong enough to perform the same feats of strength that Ben is currently capable of. She definitely wouldn't have been able to shatter the rock candy golem like Ben had. She's more reliant on her reflexes, training and precision. In the future, her foxfire will grow stronger to the point where she can use it in combat, but it is currently a bit weak.
>That said, it’s just one more funny/upsetting thing for Ben to realize later. It's inspiring, but also inherently cruel to expect that of one person. Ben recognizes this and tries to mitigate that to the best of his ability.

I hoped Cindy could chat with Liberty on faith since they both get it, but that never panned out. This is an interesting question! Your interactions with Cradle were very brief, due to the Kaiju King summoning you to the Metropolis. However, it may have been possible for you to bring Nari Moon along with you. Due to the method with which Cradle deploys their forces, Nari may have been able to bring the rest of her child army in to help you combat Varnae's forces. It would resulted in less casualties and overall damage to the Monster Metropolis, but there is also the lingering question of whether Cradle would have abused their position of power during the city's time of crisis. There will definitely be more time for Cindy to interact with them later, though. I've been planning out some of the dynamics that Cindy might form with the other young heroes, and I'm thinking I'll make a short mini-arc out of her orientation to Cradle. I could see some of them being good friends to Cindy, even outside of work hours.
As for Ami-Han, there were a few opportunities for players to interact with, or learn more about Ami Han. Using more of her power would have resulted in some interesting scenes, but I can't divulge too much. However...I wonder what might have happened if Cindy asked the Kaiju King to draw her? That would have been a VERY interesting development!

Could also do short ones for people like Vulture if you want to make them relevant for an upcoming arc. A Flint mini-arc would go hard! Shapeshifting is such a versatile power, and it would be really fun to write. Maybe I'll do a space adventure with the option to switch perspectives between Flint and Vic. Cat would be very entertaining to write as well. Her reckless attitude and flirtatious behavior makes her come of as being a lot more lighthearted than everyone else. A Harpy perspective switch could also be interesting, considering her multiple personalities. You'll really get a chance to get into her head, and see how she thinks.

>>6304899 >Powerups Ben’s boosts haven’t rubbed me the same way since they have more spacing between them. Cindy had several in, what, a day or two? Not sure how long she was unconscious for, but it can’t be too long since she still has school to worry about.
I still don’t mind how it went though. The fox powers were something waiting to happen, and Mercy is a gift from her god in the face of her personal and professional challenges. It makes sense.
>Ben’s response He’s definitely acknowledged it, but I figure it can hit him a second time given how quickly all this happened. Yesterday he was raising a teenage girl taught to be the main shitkicker of a god, now he’s raising a teenage fox/human hybrid with a (admittedly equipped and not in-built) passenger who was taught to be the main shitkicker of a god and is a prophesied “Slayer” past that. That’s a sudden jump!
>>6304899 >>6305061 I forgot about Magick! I would like to hear more of her story. Seems like she’s get having a lot of power/responsibility thrust on her at a young age, but I’m sure she’s thinking/dealing with it very differently than Cindy does.
