<span class="mu-i">Within the Year of Our Lord, 1884, upon a world quite similar to our own, all civilization is at war with a peculiar breed of creature...</span>
...all civilization, that is, save for Walter Buchanan and his companions. Walter, an aspiring naturalist, sees the good in these creatures: these demons of earth and sky, able to command the very heavens themselves, privy to the inner thoughts of man and the very souls that animate them. He has tamed four such creatures, all of whom walk by his side: Aster, his flaming foal; Mary, his electric sheep; Taylor, his silk-spinning caterpillar compatriot; Florian, his aromatic flower sprite.
These creatures, whom he dubs "neofauna," are not his only company. Walter is further joined by two human travelers: Thomas J. Steele, a businessman and state representative of Indiana, and "Andrew," a former buffalo hunter now employed as Steele's own bodyguard. All three of these men share a common cause: a desire to return to the East Coast.
This trio is further bound together not only by shared experience, but by their shared allegiance to the Staters: a movement led by a group of rebellious Californians looking to upend the most recent state governor, C. P. Huntington, for his atrocities against the state of California. The treacherous governor has used the state militia to launch a coordinated raid on the Staters' former headquarters, and suspicions abound that he is now responsible for multiple deaths within the movement-- deaths which the Stater's stalwart leader, Aaron Muyr, now seeks to avenge...

"...ah thought it might be best t' take a more scenic route. T' see as many sights an' sounds as we could, while helpin' whoever's there." You flinched as you spoke, your concern for your family weighing heavily upon your shoulders. This didn't mean you were going to leave them completely, of course-- you weren't a monster, no matter what you may had heard this morning. But... something told you that whatever New York had in store for you was <span class="mu-i">dangerous.</span> Even moreso than anything you had faced before. You couldn't place why, exactly, but the way people talked about it... you'd think the entire place had been bombed overnight. As much as you wanted to run straight back to the city... you felt more careful preparation would be ideal. "I know you said you had bus'ness 'n Indiana, Steele. How important is it?" The statesman rubbed his chin, taking quite a while to ponder what you thought was a rather simple question. "Well, I would much rather not delay it... but, upon further reflection, I can always arrange--" "Have you got family?" You interrupted, only half-aware that you'd even opened your mouth. The comment took Steele aback, leaving him silent for some time. "...well, yes, but they can take care of themselves. They have for some time now." "By choice?" "By... choice, yes." Steele cleared his throat and returned his hands to his shirt pockets. "Buchanan, I can assure you they are in good health. I can further guarantee you that my accompanying you shan't hurt them, nor should it concern you. You have an entire menagerie of other people that require you. Leave me be." Andrew gave you no time to dwell on Steele's words. "Sounds good t' me," he shrugged, "salary'r not." "You don't want to stay with th' Staters?" You asked, somewhat surprised. "There won't <span class="mu-i">be</span> any more Staters come t'morrow. There'll just be a government, an' I ain't no good at governin'. I'll help 'em set up, teach 'em a few things're two... then I'll be on my way, as usual." Andrew spoke frankly, nearing some kind of monotone, but you could tell he was a little broken up about the situation. You'd seen how his position under Muyr had invigorated him, and now... "Steele's still payin' me t' protect him, fer some darned reason," Andrew chuckled, "but whether he still wants t' waste that money is up t' him. I'll tag along with you two either way, if you'll have me." "Course we'll have you," you blurted out. You needed the muscle, after all. And the company. "Then it's settled," the cowboy nodded. "I'll tag along. Where's our first stop after Sacramento's well enough not t' need us?" That was a good question. One that you'd come prepared for... quite a while ago.

After rooting around in your haversack for a moment, you procured a map of the United States. It was a big one-- covering nearly the entire West Coast and parts of the interior. You'd gone searching for something like it soon after getting to Sacramento, but only found success recently. "Well, that's up t' you. Ah had two routes'n mind-- through the territories, on through the South, would be th' first." Steele interjected, his skin slightly pale. "Any other option would be preferable. These are the hottest months of the year, and the Indians are still skirmishing all throughout that land." Shoot, that was a good point. "Well-- the second option's up through the north, through Oregon'n the colder territories. We'd go through the lakes t' get back to New York, or through the interior." Andrew shook his head. "Wildlife up there woulda killed ya before it started breathin' fire. The buffalo alone'll stomp us flat if the snow'n wolves don't get t' us first." And the months would only get colder as time went on... "...well, we can't scale the Rockies, so we have t' pick one." Your brain tried to insist otherwise. What if there was some kind of neofaunic species that excelled in mountain climbing? Some sort of super-animal that could burrow through an entire cliff-face, or scale a snowy peak like it was nothing? For the first time today, that familiar thrill of possibility came flooding back in-- --then it left, as quickly as it'd arrived, with the cold realization that such a neofauna's whereabouts were completely unknown to you-- and likely not in California. "Since we're at an impasse, maybe it would be best if <span class="mu-i">you</span> chose for us, Buchanan. I would much rather avoid total war," Steele posited, "for nature's own disasters. But Andrew clearly feels similarly... and neither of us are very fond of compromise." Andrew grunted his agreement. "In all honesty, I would much prefer a well-insulated train to either option. But such things are a luxury, nowadays, so we must work with what we have!" Steele tried to joke. Indiana shushed his approval, but you barely heard it over Steele's continued talking. "So-- what will it be, Buchanan? The northern territories or the southern ones?">Aim for the northern territories. Although settlements and support will be scarce, as will food and warmth, you'll avoid becoming caught up in a war and be free of the blazing sun. >Aim for the southern territories. >>6342212 We are in September right now, and I guarantee you we WILL be caught in the late 1880s winter if we go north... but we do have Ponyta and Andrew has Combusken. Steele's Indiana can help carve up trees for wood even though he's more suited to earth, and we can easily get us fire going whenever. Maybe Indiana can help us dig a small burrow combined with Taylor's silk for support, and we can have a half-decent hole to shelter out the cold in. But even so, frostbite and unironic non-Pokemon cryptids are things in the deep north we could easily suffer from, and that's ignoring new mon-based threats. None of this is anywhere close to solving our food issue either unless we begin to figure out how to eat mons firsthand.

The decision was a hard one. Neither option was ideal-- Steele's fantasy of a well-insulated train was all you could think about at the moment. Memories of a world now forsaken plagued you as you tried your best to decide, before... "...sorry, Steele. Ah think Andrew's got the better point." You avoided eye contact, instead choosing to scan the map and try to plan out a route while you explained yourself. "If we go up north, we'll go weeks without settlements. No places t' restock, rest our heads, socialize with anyone but ourselves. The weather might begin alright, but th' longer we stay there the worse it'll get. An' if we lose our map, we won't make it at all." Andrew nodded along as you explained yourself, in great contrast to Steele's newly-crossed arms. "At least'n the south, there'll be people. People, food, towns. We can handle war-- we jus' won one. If militiamen turn t' Indians, we'll jus' win it again. An' we don' even need t' be unlucky enough t' get involved-- 'less we're threatened, an' then we can..." You trailed off, not wanting to finish the sentence. Andrew took it upon himself to finish it for you. "Then we can do what we did here 'n set things right." He was <span class="mu-i">grinning--</span> you were struggling to recall the last time he was this happy for this long. "Trust me Steele-- kid's made the right choice. The buffalo up north would've trampled you flat." The big businessman blew up a little, his face now red and his expression very much offended. "Did I not hire you to prevent such incidents, buffalo hunter? Buchanan-- I concede your judgement, and I do not mean this as a challenge to your authority on this matter, but I must stress how truly dangerous the southern Indian tribes are. I have heard stories of bloodied scalps, sadistic torture, and truly barbaric acts of cruelty. To equate them to Huntington's militia is to compare a lion to a chimpanzee; do not make the mistake of believing them honorable opponents." Though such descriptions made you sick, you tried not to show it. You simply rolled up the map and put it away, leaving your hands pressed upon the table and your voice quiet. "Honor's the last thing on my mind right now, Steele." Andrew concurred, somehow still jovial throughout this all. "We've not made many mistakes yet, Steele. Who's t' say we plan on changin' that any time soon?" The conversation soon turned to what you had accomplished at the capitol, and the resulting consequences. Though you'd initially participated as best you could, you found yourself progressively unwell with the topic. Come afternoon, you excused yourself and returned to your hotel room.

<><><><><> At two past noon, you found yourself sitting at your desk. You had open in front of you your journal-- <span class="mu-i">Walter Buchanan's Notes On Newly-Arrived Creatures</span>. A project you had started with utmost zeal, and still intended to pursue no matter the complications. Reading through it now reminded you of its purpose. Of <span class="mu-i">your</span> purpose in this new era. Memories of the old world, now forsaken, plagued you-- reminding you of what you'd lost, what you had accidentally sacrificed to be in this position. "Behh!" A nosy pink snout found its way underneath your right armpit, and a pair of beady black eyes stared up at your own. You hadn't paid much attention to Mary since lunch, and she seemed determined to change that. Your left hand found its way to Mary's cheek, absentmindedly stroking it, while your right arm remained motionless atop the hotel room's desk. How could you even begin...? <span class="mu-i">This morn, I paid witness to a transformation not unlike the one undertaken by Andrew's <span class="mu-r">Flammullus Diadenna.</span></span> You included a brief summary of what you had witnessed back at the saloon-- Andrew's chick exploding into a pillar of flame, within which was revealed to be some kind of chicken-man. <span class="mu-i">Mary was the next recipient of such a change, with similarly drastic results. Where before she stood upon four legs, she now stands upon two...</span> You continued to detail each aspect of her new form. A different light upon her tail; different pigment in her skin; a significant decrease in static wool, <span class="mu-i">yet a seeming increase in the power of her lightning-strikes.</span> Unsure of how to define such a drastic change in a few short words, you found yourself staring at Mary again. Where your hand once traced her cheek, it now scratched a portion of wool that grew atop her head-- not unlike human hair, you tried not to notice. Instead, you focused your attention on the shape of the wool-- what it most resembled. After brief musings on whether such transformations deserved entirely different classifications, you resolved to compromise-- you would still refer to Mary's species by its genus first. Whatever happened to Mary in the future would not change her being some form of <span class="mu-i">Fulvis.</span> Her species name, however, was to be adjusted. "Golden fleece" was hardly a fitting adjective for a species with significantly snowier coloring, after all. So, if only preliminarily, you decided to dub Mary's new species <span class="mu-i">Fulvis Zephyrecus</span>-- still a sheep borne of lightning, yet now with a cloudy head to match.

PoképocalypseQM !!fwDszUHyX/E ID:la5pFxqQ Tue 09 Dec 2025 05:19:10 No. 6344413 Report Taylor soon crawled over to you from across the room, surmounting the desk's steep leg, to bring you... the newspaper he had been chewing on. "Ah-- Taylor, no! Ah was gonna read that," you couldn't help but chuckle. Only the edges were nibbled off, but you still chastised the bug for making paper mache out of your morning papers. This issue was rather dated, but still covered plenty of news you had yet to learn about. And what a news week it was! Talk of international societies forming to study neofauna-- plenty of names being founded on the basis of "abnormalities" or "peculiar" fauna. Great Britain's was a standout, seemingly the template for many other foreign organizations: "The Society for Study of Unnatural Fauna," S.S.U.F. You wondered, briefly, if the news was simply blind to any Stateside attempts... or if you truly had a chance to be the founder of America's First. More miscellaneous stories helped transform your wired nerves into morbid curiosity. Secondhand stories of wild success from Leigh Valley's silk plants, bundled with speculation on a "Silk Rush" to compliment California's Gold. Word from the Department of the Interior that programs would be created to preserve native wildlife and defend it from invading neofauna. The most recent story, by far, spoke of total disaster in Egypt merely four days ago. Britain's rule had been overthrown with the aid of "infernal primates" nearly five feet tall, claimed to have arms "the size of tree trunks" and teeth "sharper than the spears of the most fearsome Zulu warriors." There was talk of a new Prime Minister, snap elections, the "weight of the empire"... "Mmmmeh." Mary nudged herself further underneath your arm, now leaving her chin upon your lap. You wanted desperately to ignore the paranoia creeping into your opinion of her, the similarities you could draw between her new form and any given man. With hours to do what you wished and a lot of rest you needed to catch up on, Mary's insistence on affection provided just that.

PoképocalypseQM !!fwDszUHyX/E ID:la5pFxqQ Tue 09 Dec 2025 05:22:53 No. 6344415 Report <><><><><> The night of September the sixth was almost as memorable as its morning. Muyr had called the Staters to another meeting. You had assumed it would take place on the outskirts, as the rest of this week's had, and were pleasantly surprised to find yourself invited someplace very familiar instead. Upon becoming reacquainted with the Floating Dollar saloon, in all its trashed and dusty glory, you were given an agenda for the future: a comprehensive clean-up plan, discussions of temporary government, and mourning of the dead. Tonight's feast would be held in honor of the souls lost throughout this short conflict, while all other matters would stretch over the course of the next few weeks. Neither parts of the schedule were especially heartening... and yet, that evening's dire overtone was supplanted by the uproarious celebration that overtook the saloon. Grown men cheered like children, singing folk songs and celebrating the city's emancipation without a second thought, leaving Bruce and his fellow fallen to the wayside while those who lived gave thanks for their continued survival. The food you were treated to almost felt pedestrian compared to the achievement it was meant to celebrate. The centerpiece of each of the saloon's shoddy tables was some kind of meat. Your table had a glazed chicken, another had a large steak, many more had various other forms of poultry or cooked creatures. Neofauna were provided with whatever their owners could feed them, but their very presence inflated the offerings Muyr had prepared tenfold. Beans, peas, three different types of cheeses, and grapes accompanied significant amounts of beer, whiskey, wine, and other drinks. Scant cuts of fish were quickly swooped up by pescatarian neofauna and their owners-- what little remained was often riddled with bones, yet still plenty delectable. Among all the chaos, you were kept anchored to reality by your friends. Steele found himself sat beside you, happily commenting on various antics taking place in the crowded bar, trying various different types of foods in small quantities and leaving anything he didn't like in Indiana's scoop-shaped hands. Andrew was cutting loose in a manner you'd never seen-- belting out slurred songs you'd never heard before, getting into brief scuffles over inconsequential jokes while almost certainly drunk... despite the lack of blush upon his stubbled cheeks. Through all the noise and meat and drink, you could only think about...>...the future. Muyr had promised you assistance rather long ago, and it was time you remind him of his debt. >...your family. Can they even hold together properly given their innate Pokemon drive to battle designed by Arceus himself? I imagine it would be a society that revolves around duels to settle disputes or determine social status, with the strongest of Pokemon naturally at the top of the ladder. There would be a lot more nuance, however, if it is designed by more intelligent Pokemon such as Alakazam or Metagross. That reminds me, we should try to get an Abra to tag along with us before we depart from Sacramento. An Abra would be a monumental addition to the party.
>Are Arceus and actual judeo-christian God in cahoots with each other? There will be religious shakeups for sure. That being said, my guess would be that in this setting, Arceus is just an immensely powerful and intelligent creature created by God and given its own dimension to play with. I doubt it's something wacky like Arceus being God Himself or whatever, but there are probably many people that would falsely believe such a thing. >>6344425 I thought they were
Rillabooms or something
>>6344413 >Leigh Valley's silk plants The closest thing I could find on the search engine I use is Lehigh Valley, which is located in the Pennsylvanian Appalachians. Our fortune could lie in offering consulting services for Sewaddle care, but money would be wisely invested in companies developing new tooling or materials from silk. Silk will lose monetary value as it becomes more common, but its potential applications and effects on technological development will make it the most important fiber in the world. Steele's business acumen is sure to make the most out of this opportunity.
>>6344527 >I shudder to imagine what the Apache have gotten their hands on. There is zero chance the American military is going to beat them in a neofauna conflict. It would be a very bloody war if the U.S. devoted resources to put them under control. There's a chance that a tribe nation of sorts could form.

>There's a chance that a tribe nation of sorts could form. The Cree-Assiniboine Iron Confederacy was still around in 1884, albeit on the wane. This being 1884, this is even the year when Chief Poundmaker held the religious dance that gave rise to the North-West Resistance of 1885... So, ironically, we may have dodged THAT Indian rebellion by staying south!
...But, uh, yeah. We are going to be in or around Geronimo's prowling grounds, at a time when he was active. Wodziwob and Wovoka were Northern Paiutes, and we'll be going RIGHT through their peoples' territory, which is why the Ghost Dance is the first major indigenous threat that came to mind for me.

PoképocalypseQM !!fwDszUHyX/E ID:la5pFxqQ Tue 16 Dec 2025 18:00:13 No. 6347701 Report Unfortunately, I'm going to have to cut this thread short.
The next few weeks are just too busy for me to continue writing and the thread is already nearing the end of the catalog; I can't be confident it will still remain when my schedule clears up.
I have several health issues, mechanical issues, and obligations demanding my attention that have to take priority. As a result, <span class="mu-s">Poképocalypse is going to go on hiatus early.</span>
I should have mentioned this yesterday when I didn't post an entry-- I did, in fact, but in the wrong thread on accident. (
>>6347483 ) I didn't notice until I'd woken up that it was in the wrong thread, so I'm sorry for that.
The thread has already been archived (here:
https://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Pok%C3%A9pocalypse%20Revival ), so I've committed to this.
<span class="mu-s">The quest will return sometime in January,</span> likely within the second to third week of the month. I will try to update the /qtg/ thread on its status if anything happens to hamper that, but for now just look forward to thread #7 sometime then.
<span class="mu-s">The vote in this thread will remain open until it falls off the catalog.</span> I'll take the results into account for thread #7's opening post and write them into that.
May you all have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year in advance. Here's hoping next year is better than the last, and thank you for helping make 2025 much better than it could've been!
Thank you all for reading so far. I'll see you all in 2026.
