>>6347913“This is remarkable…” Malcador let out in visible astonishment, for the first time since meeting him he seemed unguarded, unprepared. Perhaps things have not gone quite to plan eh, Sigilite?
You can feel him trying to study your Ghost. Every psychic probe and prod now returned, considerably weaker than Ghost’s but a thousand times more intricate for it, yet still effortlessly thwarted.
He tries to hide it but you've lived with him long enough to see through most of his masks. He's annoyed, borderline angry at the mosquito trying to land on his surface. “ENOUGH!” he barks out, his voice barely contained by the oasis' privacy veil Malcador had set up for your meeting.
“You want to serve Me?” “Us.” “Then you shall prove yourself!” He continues even through my interjection. He seems pumped up for something. “Not to the people, the Warriors, the Custodes or with words either. You shall do it through your own prowess!” He declares while manifesting a deck of cards in his hand, definitely not the tarot but something different yet still just as powerful, if not more.
Malcador’s mask slides back to his face with an expectant smile. “Ah, my apologies your majesties. I should have expected you to also engage in this manner of battlefield.” he says while also manifesting his own deck. “What shall be the nature of our duel?”
Ghost goes off yapping about the rules and stipulations of the game, it's the most excited I've seen him yet. Of course, Malcador's more than glad to indulge him, setting up his own conditions for the field.
I must admit I'm a little bit lost in all of this. “Isn't this just a children's card game?” Both of them stop talking and look at me in utter disbelief at what I said.
“How dare you…” Are the first words to come out of the Ghost's mouth, calm before the onslaught. And before it hits you, you open your mouth once more. “I wanna play it too.”. “Have you-!” The words that were about to inundate you die before they get the chance and you see Ghost rapidly going through several emotions.
Anger, confusion, surprise, suspicion, excitement and finally settling on skepticism. “Have you even got a deck with you?”
