"I actually don't think your idea is that bad, Lex." You stuff the document away in your inventory. Ashley looks like she's about to blow a gasket. "Lemme clarify. I don't plan on fighting that damn thing. I think we can outsmart it, though. Let's just play a game of chess with it."
All of your allies are staring at you with equal measures confusion and amusement.
"Excuse me, what?" Ashley fails to hold back her laugh. "You plan on beating THAT thing. In chess?"
You shrug as your response. Ashley throws her hands up with a snide smile but she isn't trying to kill you, so you take that as her approving of the plan. The others offer hesitant murmurs but they seem to trust you enough to follow through.
>NEW OBJECTIVE: CHECKMATE THE ADMIRAL.
"We'll tell the Captain about this later. Let's enjoy what free time we have until then." You climb up the ladder connected to the hatch between the crew quarters and the outside world. Once you're at the top, you push the hatch open-
The Captain is standing right by the hatch. The salty sea air blowing in the air moves his grey beard ever so gently. His wild orange eyes stare down at you as a wicked smile crosses his face. "That's not a bad idea, Nicole."
"WERE YOU FUCKING LISTENING IN THIS WHOLE TIME?!" Ashley yells from the bottom of the ladder.
"Yes. We'll discuss more about your plan later. Perhaps we can see a monster cry tonight. Now, do what you will." The Captain steps aside to let your group pass. Once you're on the deck, he tosses something into your arms.
It's a patchwork bodysuit made out of a dark fabric that covers from the neck below, thin enough to be worn underneath your clothes. The right sleeve has a bulky, rusted gauntlet made out of metal and plastic that's painted to mimic human skin attached to it. It then suddenly clicks that you're looking at a fucked up combination of your COMBAT BODYSUIT and MECHANICAL ARMSLEEVE.
"Best we could do on short notice." The Captain walks away after delivering this to you.
>COMBAT PROSTHETIC BODYSUIT ACQUIRED! (Only takes up your ARMOR slot. +1 MAX FLESH, +1 VIOLENCE, You add an additional +2d8 to your attack roll when making a melee/unarmed attack. Thrice per mission, it may block 1 FLESH damage taken.)
You squint at what you're given. It's worse than the original pieces of equipment but you suppose you're glad you have it at all. You gesture at your allies to wait as you head back below to change into it. With some swift telekinesis work, you equip the bodysuit and rejoin your allies remarkably quick. Probably only took you five minutes to do so.
>NICOLE FLESH IS NOW 5/5, VIOLENCE IS NOW 4.
>ARMOR SLOT TAKEN. ONE ACCESSORY SLOT AVAILABLE.
After making sure the gauntlet works properly enough for you to use it for everyday tasks, you clap your hands before addressing your allies. "Let's fish. To get our minds off things."
"Fuck it. I got nothing else better to do." Adam shrugs.
"FISH!" Benedict yells out with childlike glee. "FISHING!"
