>>5940443>>5940447wow, thank you very much for that wiktenauer link! That appears to be a very deep and fascinating reference source, I never thought of looking for techniques and descriptions there!
>Kalkstein / schiavona swordsmanI actually liked his posture (left hand behind on hip etc) very much too, it looks the most modern and seems the most commanding and contemporary looking, though there is nothing really similar to his schiavona in sport fencing today, hehe
I was actually thinking about these melee combat duels after watching Villeneuve Dune 2 lol,
>>5940056the fight choreography in them is not very convincing (at one point during the last Feyd Rautha / Paul knife duel, someone performs a sideways ninja Power Rangers spin flip lol, I was perplexed)
Actually a film I remember from a long time ago which had a very believable and tense (at least to me) knife duel scene was this one, The Hunted (2003)
The Hunted final knife scene, Tommy Lee Jones / Benicio del Toro
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=58LpdAE6lh0What I liked about this fight sequence is it is very close-up, intimate and brutal, there are not really any flourishes or Power Rangers spins hehe, the strikes are just punches and grappling and the knives draw blood nearly every time, as opposed to the Hollywood "empty air slashing blade flailing spinning" type choreography. So I actually imagined something like this in my mind for a Dune type knife fight etc.
