It took a lot of paperwork, nagging and navigating through the maze of red tape that had been set up to prevent casual visits to the base of WAND, but you finally managed to do it. And by God was it a sight to behold!
You thought your excitement had peaked when you were led through a mystical portal by a shady robed figure, but when said portal led you to the base of an impressive, black castle, complete with a thematic, seemingly perpetual thunderstorm, you had no choice but to stop and marvel at the scene before you.
However, after about a minute of awestruck wonder, the robed figure grunted in annoyance and rushed you through the main gate. The whole place looked rather gothic in terms of architecture, lacking any of the modern or advanced trappings that you got used to seeing on the Helicarrier. And was it just you, or was this castle completely empty? Where was everybody?
More importantly, where was Gwen? Hill and Bloodhound both approved of her coming along to join you on your visit to Pandora’s base of operations, with the only stipulation being that she had to either leave her shield behind, or keep it in something that would hinder its ability to interfere with the ambient magic around it. Which made sense, when you considered that the base of a magical organization would almost certainly be heavily reliant on magic.
She said that she’d meet you here, but you haven’t seen a soul to speak of since you got here.
Almost too late, you realized that the robed figure had stopped walking just in time to avoid bumping into him. He gestured for you to step onto a stone platform, but refused to do so himself. You narrowed your eyes at him, and felt for your spider sense. Just walking through that portal was enough to stretch your faith in the grouchy witch, but letting this mystical Jawa lead you around by the nose was pushing it.
You were just about to turn and walk away, when you saw a familiar figure moving around in the window above the stone platform. It was Gwen! She was wearing a black leather jacket, a graphic tee for some band you didn’t recognize and a pair of slightly ripped jeans, but you were sure that it was her!
Without even realizing it, the tip of your toe touched the platform as you got closer to inspect the window, and the stone platform actually reached out to grab the rest of your foot!
Each and every block on the platform could move independently from one another, and after grabbing your foot and sliding it so that you stood fully on the platform, you were quickly flung towards the wall!
Your feet clung to the moving surface the entire time, and you brought your arms up to shield your face, when…nothing happened?
