I mean, you do get that weird thing of "who defines what a person's name is?" and "what happens if I change my name?" or "if my parents give me a name, then I'm adopted and my new parents give me another name, what name will show up?" but of course Rowling's stupid ass system never comes even remotely close to addressing it.
I <span class="mu-i">could</span> say that in this quest it doesn't work, but I have no doubts whichever one of the Founders created it (probably Rowena) would <span class="mu-i">absolutely</span> have added animals to it so she could track children's animals or find her pet raven or whatever, because that's just the sort of dumb shit what wizards do (probably at Helga's request because Timmy lost his toad for the 3rd time this week).
So Arty will be collecting some spider eggs next trip to the Forest, and Potter will be spending the next semester hunting spiders named Elliot Hallaster, and I'm blaming it on you
