The dwarfen scouts needed a few days to get their materials together and prepare for the coming infiltration. Lucian had been in a few of their discussions, hearing them try to figure out their manner of infiltration, was enough for Lucian. He did not know the pros and cons of approaching from the underway or approaching from the surface, but the Dwarfs surely did.
They were professionals. He at the end was at the end of the day still a Peasant Knight. Someone who was upon this journey because it was his duty. Not because he had all the competencies needed.
It was as he walked towards the Ancestor Temples of the Dwarfs that Lucian knew his competency was present.
Like all other pieces of Dwarfen work there were a plethora of faces each of which looked nearly identical to Lucian. They were however the faces of different gods, each of them a different aspect of their divine nature. That was what Adok had told Lucian and he actually felt truth in those words.
As with all structures of the Dwarfs there were engravings all about the place. Each telling a tale as old as time itself by Lucian’s recogning. The one thing he noticed though was that many of the engravings were not just deeds of valor, but events that had happened in the lives of the Dwarfs. Some of them detailed miracles, some of them detailed the death of others. Wondering in the eyes of the Knight noticed quickly the sheer scale of the place was beyond what he knew.
It was then, after taking in the size of the place which was grand by even some human standards, was the stone coffin that sat at one end of the room.
Curiosity sparked in the Knight, and he approached.
