Vlad has practiced plenty of rune sequences to the point where he knows several of them by memory, but Merlina prioritised the easier ones that didn't risk his well being and were more attuned to his soul such as protection traps, light wards that work as 'keep out' signs and healing.
There's probably a Megidolaon spell or some shit like that which Merlina sneaked in case he needed it but the lack of pen and paper in a flesh swamp really put a damper on things
