Upon command the Knight blared his horn, causing the creatures to do the same and begin the attack.
The creatures were closing the space between man and monster fast. These monsters were after all from a Death World, and as such had to have both speed and lethality in order to live. Before they could gain much distance though the Knight brought his weapon down like an instructor, causing the Skitarii Rangers to release a volley of gunfire into the rushing beasts.
The creatures before them quickly began falling upon the ground. Their hides, while well armored, did not help them against the piercing force of their Mechanical foe.
It was after the second volley that the Knight decided it was time to charge. The roar of his engines and blaring of his horn caused the entire crowd to cheer him on as the two massive things came at one another. TalOS looked over to see even Vera looking upon the battle with immense interest.
When the Knight made contact the massive machine went in for a nice punch into the creature’s chest. The monster quickly being thrown around as the immense strength of the metal behemoth turned a variety of different organs into a comfortable paste within the monster’s body.
Just as he was impacting the smaller children of the massive monster made contact with the Shield equipped Skitarii. The men on the floor struggled to keep back the bladed limbs from themselves in a series of ways, such as putting the shield in one direction while bashing the limbs with the shock maul.
At that moment the massive one finally got a chance to fight back, swinging a limb in just a way that it latched onto a Knights Pauldron and brought him in for the death hug it gave so many others.
In that second there was tension on the action. TalOS could not feel it, but he could see it on everyone’s faces with the perception gifted to him by the Machine Spirits. But TalOS knew what would happen.
The sound of a chainsword began to cry throughout the field as the monster gave the greatest scream a mortal man could imagine. Everyone watched as the Chainsword raptured from the Ruptsarian’s back, and in the next second the weapon was yanked across the sternum riping an entire side out of the creature’s torso.
At the same moment the Skitarii blocking the attacks were given a second’s chance to fall back. This gave those behind them, the Rangers, with clear shots to kill the offspring with a double salvo.
The Knight placed a single foot on the top of the creature as it raised a bloodied chainsword into the air, causing the entire Colosseum to roar in triumph.
