“Deep, you said that there were other submersibles that you swam past on your way down here, right?”
Iara stopped scratching at her neck and looked up at you.
“Yeah, why?”
“I’m thinking that we steal one, load it up with depth charges and fly it straight into the belly of the beast.”
Prowler rubbed at his chin thoughtfully, his gauntlets having somehow shrunk. You wondered if they functioned similarly to your Preprogrammed Fist Material.
“In order for that to work, I’d need to rigg them with a remote detonator. A timed explosive might go off too early.”
“Heh. You’d know a lot about blowing too early, wouldn’t you?”
Everyone turned to stare at Flint. He just shrugged.
“What? Cat’s not here, so someone’s gotta make the jokes.”
“Why don’t we leave that to someone who’s more suited to the role, huh?”
Prowler shook his head and jabbed a thumb back towards you. You weren’t sure if you should feel honored or insulted.
“How much time do you think you’d need to rig the depth charges to blow?”
“Maybe an hour to be safe. We don’t want to rush this.”
“Did you guys seriously bring enough firepower to bring that thing down? It’s pretty fucking huge.”
Benga nodded along with Araña’s description of the Acanti. It was a fairly accurate descriptor.
“It’s better than just sitting around waiting for it to eat us.”
No one could argue with your logic, so they instead took a moment to mull it over. The Morlocks made their decision the fastest.
“I think it’s worth a shot. I’d rather deal with the big fish now than have to worry about it later.”
“Mm. Blow it up.”
Glass and W seemed to be in agreement. Iara just sighed and rolled her shoulder a few times.
“We’ll have to make sure that we kill it in one shot, or we’ll just end up pissing it off.”
Suddenly, the Storage Vial beeped several times, signaling that someone inside wanted to get out. You pointed it at a wall and switched it on, causing a portal to open on the far end of the room. Anastasia strode out to greet you, staring around the room curiously with a hunting knife in hand. She likely knew what everyone was going to ask, so she went ahead and saved you the trouble.
“She’s going to be fine. The shot was very clean, and it was fairly easy to treat the wound. She will need rest, but I do not see her injury causing her any trouble in the future.”
You all breathed a silent sigh of relief.
“Thanks, Ana. We were just discussing our new plan. You in the mood to help us hunt a whale?”
She frowned in confusion for a moment, but it was quickly replaced by a savage grin. And that was as much of an answer as you were going to get.
