“My greatest apologies if my measures were disproportionate. I could not keep an eye on her, so I believed this was reasonable.” Dr. Calamity sees the errors of his way. “But now that you two have put in a good word for her, I’ll give her one chance just as I did that other boy...”
“I mean, locking her in a cage is a bit too much...” You chuckle. Dr. Calamity looks confused.
“Oh, that was a joke. She’s *only* locked in a room underground.” Odetta grins. She loved the fact you openly stated it. “She’s sitting right next to a cage though.”
“HahahaHAHahHA!” The Doctor finds this hilarious for some reason.
“Damn it, Odetta.” You frown.
“<span class="mu-i">That name…</span>” Dr. Calamity rummages through his cabinet to find one file which he opens. “Ah, how peculiar.”
“I know your real full-time job is to be all cryptic, doc, but what the hell are you talking about?” Odetta thinks the doc is a full-time evil doctor. “Also, care to share the keys?”
“It’s patient-doctor confidential, dear.” Dr. Calamity throws the keys at you two. You grab them because you’re taller! You feel very smug. “If you have the time, please, find my dear niece Katastrophic. She should be around Constance’s room.”
“Hmph. We’ll see. I’m not against pivoting.” Odetta yawns.
“Isn’t Jaylene going to feel lonely?” You point out.
“Oh dear wholesome Johnny, whose niceness is only matched by his height! Some of our colleagues are keeping her company!” Odetta goes full theater kid to mock you. You feel like you were painted a completely different picture of how this went.
“Johnny boy, this won’t be our last meeting today. I guarantee it.” Dr. Calamity is saying to take it easy.
