“No excuses,” You interrupt. “Go get ready for takeoff, we’ll discuss this later.”
“She’s the one who challenged us…” The other one spoke up.
“Hmph, and you took that challenge knowing it’s against the rules to duel with your life on the line here. You’re equally at fault.”
They both mutter a nervous “Yes, sir.” and hurried off.
You turn to the recruit, who stands stunned.
A couple of things are immediately apparent. Her weapon is not something any of your smiths would engineer, and that helmet’s a bit too big for her, lazily tilting to the side.
“Making bets, are we?” You ask.
She’s silent. As skilled and cocky as she seems, your presence has ultimately stunned her.
“You’re…” She starts, before huffing and crossing her arms, sheathing her blade in the process. “I was winning, you know?”
“You could’ve been hurt. Think of your fellow knights…”
“Oh yeah?” She nods. “Judging from the audience, I’d say morale was in need of a big boost.”
You sigh. You’re torn between wanting this to be a teaching moment and wanting to shut that smart mouth of hers…
“Alright, you’re skilled, I admit. But skill without discipline leads to foolish injury, or worse, the kind of evil we’re here to fight.” You reason. “That blade of yours…”
“Hah, made it myself. I know how to fight a tougher opponent with a little trickery. Custom weapons aren’t banned, are they, knight? I mean- sir…?”
Well, she seems like your average starstruck recruit the way she’s flustered by your presence. A fan of yours maybe? Either way…
“You may use it, but not against your own company. That should be reasonable, unless, that blade of yours is a crutch?”
That remark you snuck in seemed to hit a nerve. “I could’ve beat those guys with a folding chair! Bring ‘em back in and I’ll prove it!” She yells angrily.
Well. You did want this to be a teaching opportunity…
“That won’t be necessary. I was hoping to get a moment of training in myself, actually… I’ll be your opponent now, since you only seem to know of my legacy, I’ll need to teach you to respect it.”
She clenches a fist, you can’t see them, but you can tell there’s some kind of fire in her eyes. “Fine, bring it on then…”
>Go grab some practice weapons. If you don’t follow your own rules, then they’re worthless.>You’re going to show this rebellious spirit the power of Galaxia, a true warrior’s blade. That should teach her.
