[ WORLD OF MYTHOLOGY ]
Back again to the Mountains of Yore the next day. I had wanted to see how the progression worked, given that the trial of climbing the mountain took one in and out of the World of Mythology itself and back to Hainei multiple times. We had cleared the first mountain of Tealgard and the Wintry Battlefield, and then the second mountain of Flaxgard and then the Mead River. But I didn't remember ever actually touching the second mountain peak of the real Flaxgard mountain in Hainei, only the Mead River section of Woldor's realm anchored to it.
Yet, the second time I passed through, I did not reenter the Mead Rivers. I got to continue the trek up the mountain to my leisure, ascending the snowy slopes just like a hiker. I wondered along the way if it were simply because I was not coming with the intention of continuing Woldor's trial today that I could not enter the realm... and that too made me wonder if I could reach the top of the Mountains of Yore themselves this way. Because, after all, I did not have my party accompanying me.
I just continued to walk. Well, 'walking' in this case was more like rapidly ascending the mountain meters at a time, hopping great distances with each step I made. I found my hoove- well, no, feet, touching the actual soil and rock of the mountain of Verdigard itself. The next mountain that I had to ascend to reach the Jungle Battlefield in Woldor's realm...
And up ahead, at the top of the next peak... the rainbow gateway! It was there already! Did that mean the trial was truly still ongoing?
[???] "Stop."
I stopped, just as told. Up ahead, I heard a voice. I saw a presence in another space, in Woldor's realm, talking to me. It entered into Hainei itself, hovering just in front of me as I looked up.
[???] "You cannot go any further. You cannot continue ascend the Mountains beyond this point. Not until you have completed your trial. You cannot take it alone."
'Ah. I see... I'm sorry, I was merely curious. I won't proceed until I have my friends with me.'
[???] "They must be here. After all, they have sworn to undertake the trial themselves when they joined you."
'Who... who are you...?'
[DITE] "I am known as Dite. I am an Angel who serves the Wargod. Do not be afraid of me, for I am not able to attack you. However, I cannot let you proceed past the rainbow gate... nor can I brook you any information about the trial."
I tilted my head at that; 'Because giving me information would be like giving an enemy intel in a war.'
[DITE] "Indeed. Going through these grueling battles that Woldor has set up for you is much like fighting a war of your own, being waged against you. You alone can make your 'side' prevail in such a conflict."
