>>5309976Kids are poor liars, and really obvious ones at that– even the mutant ones are no different than their normal-kid counterparts. Simon should be no different.
“Alright, Simon.” You address him, putting a hand on your hip. In Bernard’s hold, the small kid is nearly eye-level with you, but, on ground-level, he would barely come past your hips. “Give me one good reason why I should believe you.”
“Uh–” He stammers, reddish eyes bugging slightly. You feel his heart rate pick up just the slightest. “Um… I helped you guys find that stuff you wanted, didn’t I?” The Aurum Impulsum, you recall, although you could’ve easily found that on your own with a little extra time and searching.
Still, that’s not an actual reason, and, when Simon realizes that the two of you aren’t buying it, he tries for a different angle, one that has a bit more logic than his first attempt at a plea.
“Ask the seagull girl!” He exclaims, eyes lighting up with a new idea. “Let’s go see her– she’ll tell you I’m not a liar.”
No sooner does he say that then are the three of you taken to the seagull girl in a flash.

“No?” Disbelief colors Bernard’s voice.
“That’s right. I let him.” The bird-girl affirms, who calls herself Delilah. At the moment, you don’t really care if it’s her real name or a codename.
“No offense, kid, but you looked kinda wonky when you were under his spell.” Having been at the tail-end of Valjean’s power, Bernard seems to be more cautious of Simon than either you or the seagull-harpy. “You sure you really let him do that to you?”
