>>5958279Silence follows. A sharp wind blows through the exposed holes in the audience chamber. You adjust yourself once more in your seat, while Corrine whistles, tapping her foot absent-mindedly. As your minds wander off for several moments, Yara’s words finally hit you in the face like a sack of Killer Axes.
>“Wait what?” You and Corrine mutually exclaim.“You didn’t know?” Yara asks.
>“Of course not! How would I know!?”“How would you not?” Yara asks, raising one eyebrow high. “What did you think would happen when you invited Ashe into your bed?”
>“Not that! At least not yet! He’s not even back from Arianrhod! Are you kidding me?!”“It’s what the spirits are telling me.” Yara says.
>“Tell them to check again!”“You’re pregnant?” Corrine’s eyes open wide in amazement, before narrowing in abject disgust. “Oh Blair…you aren’t even officially married yet…you harlot…”
>“You aren’t helping!”“Would you like to know the baby’s gender?” Yara asks you. “I used to do this for some of the women back in Duscur. If you’d like, I could tell you whether your child will emerge a boy or a girl.”
>“N-no, wait up.” You say, slinking back into your tiny and uncomfortable stool. “That doesn’t seem right. Shouldn’t Ashe be here for that sort of revelation? And wouldn’t it just ruin the surprise? And since when was anything you predicted so clear?!”“Well, I want to know.” Corrine says. “Yara, do your thing. What sort of baby is Blair going to have?”
“One moment.” Yara climbs up the steps towards you. You find that you have no place to run, as Corrine steps behind you, ready to block off your escape. Yara quickly reaches out, placing her hand on your stomach and muttering something under her breath in the language of Duscur. You’re unable to understand what she is saying, but you feel incredibly nervous. You close your eyes, unable to comprehend how your life could have drastically changed in such a quick fashion.
You knew that you wanted to have children. It was a fact that had only been strengthened by your meeting of Tristan. But you never expected it to be so soon. You try to envision it. Yourself, the Countess of Rusalka, with Ashe by your side. A child is running throughout the castle halls, strong and healthy and full of so much life. They run up to you, smiling, and you pick them up, spinning around and lifting them high. As you envisioned this soon to be real child in your mind, you realized that you had been picturing them as:
>A): A boy>B): A girl
