Uneventful, is the best way to describe this system. Even pirates do not seem interested in places this remote.
“Captain, the data has been gathered and sorted.” Reports Tetreault.
“Nothing of note, I assume ?” You say lazily.
“No, sir.” She answers, whilst shaking her head.
“Good, I’m growing tired grasping at straws in this forsaken place. Organize the fleet for departure.”
With a quick salute, your XO begins the process of endless minutia.
Soon enough, darkness engulfs you. The Abyssal Tide gently rocking the Timur-class as it travels through the starless sky.
Finally, you arrive back into the system housing the waterworld, this time however, your sensors flare to life.
Hulked vessels, chunks of plates, the occasional still misfiring engines. All of this situated around the lone gas giant. It seems that a bloody fight was had.
Luckily, friendly IFFs fill the system. Your ambushing troops, the merchants you had directed here, Rasia’s forces, and some second-line frigates and transport ships, currently busying themselves establishing an outpost, cannibalizing the destroyed ships in the surroundings.
Noticing your arrival, the left behind ambushing troops instantly start moving and they try to rendezvous with you.
“Captain, Lord-Commander Kenne is requesting a call.” Says your comms officer.
“Put it through.”
Quickly appearing, Giacomo salutes you. “Captain, I am happy to report that we laid a successful ambush, two dozen frigates and two destroyers were destroyed at the cost of two of our frigates.”
“Excellent news, how were you able to do so ?” You say with some curiosity in your voice, the man never struck you as someone imaginative.
“I had a couple of frigates act as bait, luring pirates close to the gas giant, then striking when they least expected it. The luring frigates were lost, but we were able to inflict serious casualties.”
“And of your fellow officers ?”
“Lord-Commander Teigon and Lady-Commander Datz carried out my orders without questions. And speaking off, due to the manoeuvre, Lady-Commander Datz is now with no command.”
“I see. I shall address the matter at a later date. Return to formation.”
Stating so, you cut the connection. “Comms, contact Lady-Captain Alpizar.” You quickly state afterwards.
Moments later, a worse for wear Rasia materializes before you.
“Knight-Captain Proenza.” She greets you.
“Lady-Captain Alpizar. How was your route ?”
“Bad. I’ve lost a raider, four wolves and two defenders. The first few systems were nice and quiet, but at some point, I started running into organized detachments, seemingly laying in wait for me. I was able to bloody them, but they bloodied me in return.”
“Are you in fighting shape ?”
