>K, Observe Chattering, bring in a table and the landline, then watch some tv With the help of Employee X, Kate drags over the table and landline over to the containment cell. The two take a quick breather before X fucks off to do her own thing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrrM43p10scEmployee K enters the containment cell, dragging the landline and table behind her.
K: Proceed, TV.
She puts the table in front of the TV before kneeling down to fiddle around with the dial.
What demographic is this? Oh well! Everything's available on television!
An equally dull-faced man appears on the screen. Blood splatters are on the greenscreen behind him.
ANOMALY: "To those who are tuning in late, I apologize. You missed another record being broken."
ANOMALY: "Sadly, Neon Slasher's record got broken a few hours ago. Mark him off of your card, people."
Employee K's face twitches a bit. You're not sure what expression she made but it wasn't a smile.
ANOMALY: "Now, what is the value of a human life? What do you actually matter in the City?"
ANOMALY: "Some places sell a regular for 1 A. Some for 2. Some for 3."
ANOMALY: "All minor amounts, though. Is there a point on valuing their lives if they're so cheap? There's only one thing that gives us value."
ANOMALY: "What we bring to the table. What character we can show through all of the screens and cameras and computers."
ANOMALY: "But there's only so many ways to make a person. When will you just accept you're bored of a toy and crunch them?"
A number flashes on the screen, with no rhyme or reason. Employee K dials the number out of morbid curiosity and rests the phone on her shoulder.
ANOMALY: "It appears we have a mystic calling us. Connect us, Johnny."
K: Evening.
ANOMALY: "Now, miss. What is your statement on the matter of human lives? What do they cost to you?"
ANOMALY: "You must be interested enough in humans if you were to contact this line, after all."
K: It is the principles they stand for that matters. Life is cheap, ideas are not.
K: Humans are interesting with how they see the world, aren't they?
ANOMALY: "Interesting. Yes, that's the correct term. It's all about keeping that interest. Never letting the channel switch."
ANOMALY: "Record breaking views we're having. Hasn't been like this ever since the first Record was broken."
K: First?
ANOMALY: "Now, it wouldn't be fun to end the show that early, would it?"
ANOMALY: "Mystic of trash. I must ask, what kept you alive in all of these facilities?"
K: Simple enough. I made myself uninteresting to work with. These works are as much energy production as entertainment, is it not?
ANOMALY: "Entertainment. That's all that matters in the end, isn't it? Entertainment and viol-"
The signal cuts off. Leaving nothing but a dropped phone call and static on the TV screen.
K: Enlightening. I'll leave this here.
Employee K quietly leaves the containment cell.
