“I understand.” Lucian admitted as he shook his head slightly, “It is your burden to bear.”
Adok gave a half hearted smile to the response. The whites of his teeth barely seen through his massive beard, “Thanks, Umgi.”
With that agreement made the two of them continued following the scouts. The winding tunnels was somewhat mind numbing to Lucian. It was better he guessed to just absorb the numbness. If he did not it would have given him a headache, and problems like that would be bad during the assault.
It was when one of the doors opened, showing the bitterness of torch light, that Lucian snapped out of the vagueness that he gained. Just that little bit of light was enough to tell him that they were about to walk into a place where other men, not the insects who inhabited the fortress, made themselves known.
The scout who was peering into the halls had disappeared into the soft light for a few moments, soon coming back to them with a waving hand, “They have vacated the room.”
Following the Dwarf they were within a room that was partially lit by a few of the torches that sat upon the walls. The light was like a liquid dancing on the edges of the shadows that the group of Dwarfs and Lucian found themselves following. As the Dwarfs said there were no undead within the place, likely their kind summoned to fight the undead dwarfs and the others.
“Smells like someones been cooking.” Adok said as he pointed to the lit fire, “That fire, you fellows don’t think that is just for one person right?”
“There are a few other humans within this palace.” The Scout said as he inched forward, “We will need to be cautious, for the chances of meeting one of them is high.”
“We move forward.” Lucian said from the rear, “Better to be closer before we are drawn into the fighting.”
The Scout gave a nod, slipping into the shadows for a few precious seconds before a hand appeared at the door.
