You all carefully move back into the fog, with you pinging Andrew and Rosaline to start picking off any ghouls they see around the edges near by, but not within a certain radius of where you are. It's something of a gamble, but you're hoping that you can scare them off your flanks to by time for Jacob to set his traps up without any major issues or us being spotted again.
Jacob gets to work right away however, moving as quickly and quietly as he could. Pulling out a field kit with some rope, some trip wire and a few triggering mechanisms before he started setting everything up with the plasma Grenades. You're almost glad he didn't try to pull the same trick he did back in vault city by turning one into a land mine. That said it'd probably have been harder to detect.
Regardless he does this along a relatively open street ducking between cars for cover as he does so. We'll probably lose some salvage here, but a small price to pay to be able to get the rest. Finally he pulls back and you all stack up together in an alley way with a dead end before pulling out the Ranger Sequoia and cocking it.
You hold up a hand to signal them to wait and then fire the gun into the air once, before pulling it back and loading another round into it and holstering it.
You peek around the corner and at first you see nothing. But then you see it, a rather large pack of ghouls clambering about, you think you count maybe 40-50 of the damn things. They roam in groups that large?! At the head you see something that resembled the larger ghoul with the massive deathclaw like claws from back when you were exploring the place the first time. This one was smaller however, it's claws still sharp, but its eyes seemed dull, it's size somewhat smaller.
It was creeping forwards tapping it's extended fingers along the pavement very gently almost as if searching for something.... or like how a blind man uses a cane. Was this one blind? It stopped for a moment before rearing up sniffing at the air and the rest of the small horde stopped with it. It seemed to run those massive claws across the ground once swiping at something that wasn't there. It seemed satisfied with the result and continued forwards with it's tapping of the ground.
Unfortunately for it, it had not checked the right area, the trap wasn't on the ground, only the trigger, the trap was hanging above them from some dilapidated sign posts. The next time it did that same motion it sprung the trap, and the grenades were triggered and fell to the ground. As soon as it heard the clank it screeched, and the rest followed in an unholy cacophony that threatened to burst your ear drums. Didn't matter however as it would soon be replaced with tenitus from the exploding grenades.
Corpses shattered all over the place, goo where some of them had stood, the big red one's body surprisingly still in tact... well mostly it seemed to be missing it's left arm and legs, but they were only strewn about not destroyed.
