>>5620756The guards return, and the first announces: “Prince Rufos will meet with you, Mister Long.”
“Of courssse,” you say, maybe a little snappily.
You and Irinnile both step towards the door of the Green Knight’s room, only for the guards to hastily close ranks behind you, and the second to hold up a hand.
“Only Mister Long,” the first knight says.
“Am I, like, under arrest?” Irinnile asks, surprised more than offended.
The guards glance at each other and shake their heads in near-unison.
“No, no,” the second guard says, as they part to allow the secretly succubic knight to exit the room. “But… Prince Rufos requests the private meeting of Mister Long. Alone.”
That’s the sort of thing to set your <Danger Sense> atingle… or, well, it would if it were a direct, immediate, physical threat. It’s still an unusual request, though.
“Why?” you ask.
The guards have no answers, for noen were given to them. ‘prince’s orders,’ and no elaboration besides.
