In the hands of someone skilled enough not to panic at first sight of a Zaku, and who knows how to get the most out of them, those little pods are frighteningly agile, and all it takes is one shot from those 180mm cannons to tear a Zaku in two.
They might not be much, but this early on in the UC timeline, they're more dangerous than people give them credit for.
