Thermonuclear hot take: I dislike MAGE as I feel it tries to do way too much. You could have just had a bunch of magically-enchanted teenagers trying to dodge the Men in Black like Harry Potter or that one Covenant (or was it Chronicle?) movie that looks like Twilight but is about Wizards. It doesn't have the same physical grounding and "emergent storytelling" as something like Vampire. I think the cosmic themes and focus on metaplot isn't as interesting in the extended WoD when there is much more obvious and cool supernatural shit going on.
I think Unknown Armies handles the same concept but much better, especially for a modern setting.
