You decide to explore the tunnel now with the help of the others using methods that minimize the chance of you getting lost. The idea of using tags and waypoints comes to you, but with how the walls shift... it may not be the most useful.
You tie a rope to each person. Along with you is Sam and her friend Neil, a quiet bloke with a penchant for the outdoors. These two were the only ones willing to actually go into the tunnel with you. Even so, you volunteer to go first. You aren't afraid of being trapped by the tunnel again- if anything having other people with you dulls the blow. Might as well take head and make the other two less scared.
Going deeper into the tunnel, you devise a plan to keep all of you within eyeshot and earshot at all times, mapping at your steps and procedures as needed. Mostly, you just hope the rope holds you all together. As long as you don't have to make a hasty retreat...
Deeper within the tunnel, past the darkness, there is light now. As you enter it, you realize there is now an unusual space here. It's like a set of rooms or hallways, connected together. The walls are the same as your unit, the same beige wall tint, the same cheap, thin carpet, even the same "boob shaped" light fixture overhead, just like in the older and communal parts of your building. This entire place cannot possibly exist, and didn't exist just last time you went down the tunnel, yet feels exactly like it was built here. Up ahead, the tunnel finally opens up into this unknown open space, with a blind corner getting closer.
Feeling no apprehension, you approach, but suddenly feel a tug on the rope. Sam, behind you, is stopped. She looks nervous. Almost exactly at that second, you feel it too- a sense of something bad about to happen. Almost like an infection traveling up the rope like an electrical shock. Neil is also stopped, hands near his waist, looking nervous as well.
Just a second ago, this quiet corner meant nothing to you, but now out of nowhere- you get a very strong sense of something really bad about to happen. <span class="mu-i">Something</span> is right around this corner now, a malevolent presence that creeps you right out. It's about to strike, almost daring you to peek around. The three of you together are almost feeding off each others nerves, suddenly feeling almost teeth-chattering at the prospect of looking around.
<span class="mu-b">"...Rod... don't...!"</span>
>Look around the corner
>Retreat slowly
