"Nothing of concern. I simply wished to greet you for a moment, my darling~" A smug smile was on her face as you gave her your full attention, thus 'proving' that she was more important than any work you were doing. Usually there was always some mindgame you both entertained yourselves with to pass the time; today it was body language. You stood up and brought her close to you as you boldly placed hand around her waist. Her eyes widened slightly before she regains her countenance.
"If you have the time to greet me, then you also have the time to keep on practicing magic." You lightly chide her.
"A-ha, my gallant Master," Her smugness would've been insufferable were it not for her honeyed voice, "You need not worry of that. I promise you will be satisfied with my results."
"Oh?" You mentally surmised that this whole situation was because Ruby wanted some attention from you.
"Indeed, my gallant Master~" She began, her smile becoming even more smug. "You see, I began this week by..."
Ruby Rose then proceeded to boast about her ability to use basic magic at an advanced level; being able to use a surprising strong version of telekinesis. Magical circles were also something she dabbled into— with the 'circle of stillness' (with the effect of nullifying any spell of her choice) being one of her favorites— made by imbuing her Attack Misdirection and Assassin's Thorns with a constant flow of mana and a paralyzing spell. While situational, the result was once again impressive.
This wasn't to mention how she was now able to enchant some items with certain spells— though it wasn't comparable to the advanced enchantments you or Herta could do, it was still another pleasant surprise.
She then showcased a spell that could temporarily blind anyone that got hit with her magic attacks, she'd purposefully learnt how to use Magic Bolt with this in mind.
Ruby also gained a new skill: Captured Vulnerability. It used the Appraisal skill as a base, and could be used to detect weaknesses in an enemy. That wasn't all, as it also used mana to 'cover' the magical weakness of any ally— making it seem like they still have mana even if one was in the midst of having mana exhaustion.
The above skills and abilities were thanks to her [Custom Special], Mana Contingency. Such spells that used combinations would be impossible for someone with such a small mana pool (even a regular sized or larger mana pool might find some trouble with the technical details), but Ruby was able to figure it out.
"Master," She said, "Simply know that I wish to prepare myself for any future endeavor." Another smile, but this time with a purposeful glimmer in her gaze.
"I'm well aware that you're prepared for every eventuality." You said. "You've done well, Ruby." You commended her.
