Wilhelm and Asphodel set off toward Redgate. The young man did his best to heed Ludolph's directions, but soon found himself lost in the swamp and surrounded by water. "Whoa, Asphodel," he said to his horse and looked at the sun, which had already crossed the midpoint of the sky. "Ludolph said to go left, then right, then left, or was it right again?"
Asphodel snorted, and Wilhelm felt the beast take a nervous step backward into the murky water.
