>>6310069You don't know if your mentor's name is Sierra. You don't know the connection between her and Don Bosco. But you know what you know, and this you tell him.
"She died... by her own hands."
Immediately, Bosco bares his sharp teeth in anger. This is within your prediction. But the slight trembling in his voice caught you by surprise.
"Hey, hey! You best not bebyanking my chain, young lady!"
A flare of anger, from your own throat.
"It's true! I know this because she did it in front of me! I didn't ask to be a witness, but I can't erase it from my mind, now, can I?!"
Slowly and deliberately, you pull out your revolver - holding it gingerly, like some sort of broken bird. The same one that ended your mentor.
"All I have to remember her now is this hat, and this gun..."
You wanted to add something more, but the words ceased in your throat. A feeling of warmth and saltiness surprised you - until you realize it's your own tears. It is true. All you have of her were these two things, and incomplete memories.
"Gongalla drowned... so the rumors were true. She actually died..."
Don Bosco's voice is unexpectedly warm, well, as warm as a casino owner's could. He, too, reached into his inventory and pulled out something. A small box. Jewelry? Oh, oh... did he- ?
"Curse you and your schemes, Sierra - what am I supposed to do with this, now?"
A bluish grey pall of charged, awkward sadness fell upon the casino. Valencio had donned his mask again. The dealer uneasily shifts in her spot. Anyone else within earshot tries their hardest to pretend not having heard anything. And you're not sure if you should voice this nagging feeling that might be questions.
