When you return, Jakuchō is right were you left her. Stepping out of the rain and into the shelter she can finally notice you.
"Swordsman?"
Before you would have thought it to be a statement of greeting, but now know it to be a question. You reassure her simply by speaking.
"I have returned, as promised."
There is scorn in her voice, "But now I do not know where you have been. I cannot be your alibi should something happen."
"You could have come with me if you were so determined to keep a record." It is a cruel statement, because you know she could not.
She does not take the bait, instead returns to looking far off into nothing.
"I did not return without bringing a gift however." In your arms is an umbrella, not to be confused with the one Yuki used as bait. This one is cheap, and stolen from some unfortunate who should have kept a better eye on his things.
"Will you take my arm shrine maiden? The umbrella is not quite big enough for two."
She hesitates for a moment. "I will"
Jakuchō's steps are careful and she clings to you tightly. The rain obscures her senses, and her steps are not resolute. Even still, she knows where she is and the path to the shrine is etched into her heart. When you return to the shrine you can feel a sense of relief wash over the maiden. The wooden steps up to the shrine give her the courage to release you, and walk on her own. "I will dry my clothing, I suggest you do the same."
