>>5840795“Mary, pull hack for now! I’m going to try and find out where that Bolting came from!” You relay to the others. “Cover me while I do so.”
Anemone nods, opting to take on the Hellwing captain. Her mount, Stormy, is as fast as they come, and she closes the gap between her and her foe quickly. A spark of dark lightning shoots up her arm, before being fired off in a wave at her the spear-wielding wyvern knight. Both man and beast are caught in the attack that you recognize as Luna. Though the enemy captain is fast, you know well that there is no defense against dark magic of that caliber. He launches his spear forward, catching Stormy on his underside. The pegasus screeches in pain, but it’ll take more than that to knock him out of the sky. Anemone follows up with another blast of dark magic, and the captain and his wyvern explode into red chunks.
Though you sit the fight out, Caleb’s ballista fortunately pulls some of your weight for you, knocking another three wyverns out of the sky. The others engage in battle with the third detachment, though noticeably, they don’t go down as quickly as the last few. It seemed that the enemy was in fact getting stronger with each passing wave. Though you are not currently engaging them, these thoughts and more serve to distract you from your intended goal. Following the traces of Winona’s magic back to her would be tough even in an empty field. But doing so in the middle of a city under siege was the utmost challenge.
“It won’t work, Blair. You’re outmatched. Throw down your arms and escape with your life. I won’t be bested in matters of war.”
>A woman’s voice. Were you hearing things now? No, you’d heard Winona speak to you back at Gronder as well. Was she messing with you somehow? “Damnit…it’s no good.” It felt as though you could sense everyone else but her. It wasn’t that the mage was hiding her tracks, but that there was just too much going on. You needed to concentrate further if you wanted to stand any chance of finding her. Your efforts end in failure, but you feel as though you’ve gotten a good idea of just which of these buildings Winona was observing the battle from.“Enemy wings going down!” Ava reports, shooting down a wyvern knight that was inches away from running her through. Your companions were able to clean up without you it seems, with your side suffering minimal casualties. Even better though, Elizabeth and Kayla have seemingly gotten into position and begun firing off their Physics. You watch as the wounds that Mary, Eleanor and Ingrid had sustained fully heal.
>“Great job! Keep knocking them do-”“Wyverns spotted coming from the east!” A pegasus scout yells. “I-is it the enemy?”
