>>5654302>>5662728>John WooMy favourite Chow Yun Fat film is actually not directed by John Woo though I think he heavily influenced it, it is the Replacement Killers by Antoine Fuqua, it has Mira Sorvino before Harvey Weinstein ...did some stuff to Miramax and also the gunfights are more sensible though constrained in ridiculous spectacle from John Woo ie no shootout of ten thousand bullets killing a hundred people whilst clutching a baby from a hospital etc like in the film Hard Boiled. I think the John Woo to Tarkovsky inspiration is not that farfetched because Tarkovsky films are very theological with religious iconography and I believe John Woo actually trained as a priest himself early on hehe. And I was delighted with how the original Max Payne videogame used John Woo's name as a criminal password for a brief cutscene hehe
Anyway here is the best song from the Hardboiled film soundtrack this is an elegiac one it has a film noir feel, I think it would work for a cyberpunk or detective setting. Halo ODST did the rain jazz saxophone sculpted urban soundscape, but I think this John Woo music is much better
