The heat of the Drengi Rune was swelling as Lucian looked upon the monster before him. He felt invigorated, just as he had when fighting the Abomination from Hell, except now he expected the might to swell into his limbs. The murder of Dwarfs all around him must have stroke the cord with the Rune, or perhaps the Knight had finally become accustomed to the Rune’s own power.
Whatever means Lucian charged the monster from the front. Even without a horse a Child of Bretonnia knew that the greatest form of attack was to go at it from the front with all the force one could muster in a single decisive strike!
“By Grimnir’s bones!” Shouted a Dwarf as Lucian’s scythe sailed over his head, the weapon buzzing through the air before slamming into the skull of the offending creature. Lucian felt, even though it should had been as tough as leather, the weapon cleave through like the flesh was butter to his scythe. Force so great that Lucian was easily able to cut the skull in two, sending the creature planting upon the ground.
As quickly as he killed that one another came towards him, trying its best to crawl and pulverize its brother with some difficulty. Indeed the flesh of the undead was dry and tough, so even creatures who were built to kill mortals would find its own skin hard to shred.
He dug the weapon deep once again, making sure the two were stack ontop of one another in a matter that made it much harder to get over. He prayed if there were still Dwarfs alive on the other side, but he felt there were none as he ran to one of the many holes in the wall. His gaze fixed upon the monsters marching their way towards the gates, their mighty jaws working as if they could taste the blood of those inside already.
Suddenly, as it sensed exposed prey, one of those bird-like creatures lunged from the air towards Lucian. He did not think then, but instead the Knight held his scythe in one hand to kneel before the portal where the cannon were supposed to sit through. The creature, not realizing the danger, had closed the distance in second which was exactly what the Knight of Bretonnia wanted.
With a sudden push of force that sounded like the rupturing of a cannon the Knight sent himself flying at the monster. The giant avian like undead did not realize what trouble it was in as Lucian got a firm grip upon its odd furlike line. With a push of his will and mighty demi-god strength Lucian found himself getting on the back of the belligerent creature in some crude form of pegasus flying from the tales of yor.
It was not a pleasant one.
