I completed DMC4, dmc, and DMCV, with that slightly disappointing V character lol. My favourite was 4 (although I actually think dmc not so bad as some people claim despite Ninja Theory antics). I am not a hardcore DMC player who can sss rank all combos, I tend to spam a few moves too many times. I mentioned how Dante's Lucifer infinite floating sword summoning red rapier needle thing, alongside the Platinum Games blue hovering nanomachine ice crystal Sasha Ivanoff character from Anarchy Reigns, and 2B floaty twirling from Nier Automata influenced the idea I had for the Drone Sword weapon in my setting, though sadly anons never used it.
DMC is one of those games where the original formula is so good, unique and iconic it seems hard to evolve or expand it without making it worse. I think Soul Calibur is like that too.
In fact, some anon should make a sort of cross franchise fighting game. Import the combos and characters from any franchise, from Soul Calibur, Samurai Shodown, Guilty Gear, Last Blade etc (hehe, I only played weapon fighting games) and pitch them against each other. I think the old Soul Calibur games had a sort of quest adventure mode? (basically fights but you get some items in between?) And the obscure old psx fighting games Ehrgeiz? Destrega? also had quest modes I think.
