Been a fan of the manga since I picked it up in early 2016 thanks to everybody talking about how shit the CG anime was, I remember complaining about hiatuses and getting hyped for new chapters like it was still happening today.
Like most I was pretty devastated by Miura's passing (I already reread the story like 5 separate times before starting the quest) so I thought writing this from the start would be a good way to feel some closure for me and maybe to a few other people.
The hardest part about being faithful to the source material is coming up with new dialogue that doesn't really break character or making characters have interesting motivations and thoughts without feeling rehashed, then again not everything needs to be super meaningful all the time if consuming so much media with the humanity vs eternity themes like Berserk taught me anything. Always thought writing purefag chacters would be boring but Vlad's not so bad, compared to Guts and Griffith everyone looks pure of heart.
Mostly making stuff up on the fly as I go along so I can't say I have anything planned for when we finish the source material but I'm starting to think that's how Miura himself wrote things aside from a few planned out footnotes, just need to get in the mindset of things and watch my health while I do it.
