“Is that because the population of brothers increased dramatically? As your Primarch has included several thousand more the Second Legion now stands third in total population numbers comparable only to the thirteenth and the sixteenth.”
The Second Legionnaire shoveled more of the sludge out with a mighty lift. The liquid, which by now was closer to a solid than a liquid, splashed into a sheet of glass as it smacked the once soft ground.
“Indeed that is a benefit to our Legion. Their numbers as well as our Father’s insistence in employing mortals has benefited our combat effectiveness beyond previous calculations were to suggest.”
“Do you work well with them?”
The Astartes gave a small chuckle as he heard those words, “We are two different breeds of man. The Acillians were built as the primary soldier of our Father and they embrace it. Ask any of them and they will tell you that their ultimate goal is to learn as much as they can about the material world.”
“And yourselves?”
“We are a different weapon, a different breed of superhuman that was built not to defend but dominate. We are given stimuli that accelerate our desires for fighting and have dozens of tools to augment our ability to fight.” The Astartes pointed out as he continued his work on the sludge, “Thus our base desire, what was bred into us, is the ultimate desire to make a good war.”
“War is our duty but that does not keep us from building.” Declared the Fist as he waved a hand across the rows upon rows of battlements built for the coming conflict.
“You are correct. We will need to learn to cope with it.” Answered the 2nd Legionnaire as he turned towards his fellow, “There is something else that was given to us when we met our Father. Mjorn Proxy 532. We have been drinking it as of late and it's settled many nerves.”
