Many, many things happen at once this year.
Firstly, the Middle-Eastern terrorist group finally launches an attack. Down in South Africa, a horrifying beast rises from the desert. Controlled by dozens of operators at once, the lobotomised, mechanised chassis of Shelob rampages across Mozambique, crushing towns and villages merely as a show of power. The terrorists have chosen Africa merely as a staging ground, not for any dogmatic reason, and now intend on marching Cyber-Shelob all the way back across the continent.

To any sufficiently evolved Kaiju, this thing is not a major threat. It could even serve as a walking stockpile of energy if slaying it is easy enough. To the humans in its path, however, it is an unstoppable terror.
