Arriving at the station you find Hawthorne by your desk wearing a fancy, by his standards, dress shirt and slacks. You look down at your plain grey shirt and jeans and feel a little underdressed.
"We finally going out for that dinner, Hawthorne?" You ask him
He chuckles and shakes his head.
"No, rookie. I'm dressed like this because we have a mole in the department."
Your blood runs cold before common sense kicks in, obviously he can't mean your investigation with Question and Huntress, he's being far too casual now. If Hawthorne knew there was a mole you aren't sure if you could stop him from digging through everyone in the station.
"How is that?" You ask after a brief pause.
"Bruce Wayne is coming, somebody let slip to him he has a discreet detail on him and he's insisting he comes by to meet us."
Now you let your panic show.
"Bruce Wayne? I'm not dressed to meet him I look like a bum." Yo usay plucking at the old grey t-shirt you pulled from a drawer this morning. "I thought we were going to be in uniform anyways?"
"We are." Says Hawthorne, looking over your shoulder. "But I still wanted to make a good first impression." He looks you up and down and clucks disapprovingly.
Just then you feel something, like electricity in the air, a palpable buzz you feel on your skin, moving the taut hairs of your forearm and neck. Shivers goes wild and at the same moment Hawthorne chimes in again.
"Too late to change now." He says quietly.
Across the station house floor you hear commotion as Officers and other staff alike crowd around one man. Wearing a silk shirt and a tasteful blazer is Bruce Wayne, golden child of Gotham. Looking at him now all you feel is a sense of fear, you aren't sure where it comes from, you check your clothes again and figure maybe it's just nerves or maybe it's the fact that right next to Wayne is GCPD Commissioner Jim Gordon. They slowly cross the room Wayne shaking hands and Gordon leaning into certain officers desks and saying a few quiet words.
As they reach you Hawthorne steps out and offers his hand, which Wayne shakes, and looks to Gordon.
"Jimmy, good to see you again."
"Same for you, Mitch." Gordon says, a wide smile forming beneath his moustache.
Wayne turns to you while they exchange words.
"Officer DeLucia, correct? First open meta on the force. Must be difficult. It's a pleasure." he offers you a hand to shake.
>"I'm a cop before a meta, sir. Thank you though."
>"It's been a little rough, sir. But most of the department is very welcoming."
>"Not difficult at all sir, my abilities give me an edge on the street."
>"Not sure if I'd have made it this far without my TO sir, he deserves the credit."
