Hi-Commandramon flails his hands wildly, then fires his grenade launcher your way. You yell out in alarm and hit the ground, watching as the attack sails over your head and explodes against a pile of sand behind you.
No, not a pile of sand. In the wake of the attack, several large lizards begin reconstituting their bodies. Some of their eyes have been transformed into swirls, dazed as they are by the explosion, and others are left unable to reform. You shoot at them with your packet pistol, finishing off the survivors before they can execute their sneak attack on you.
You don’t have time to thank Hi-Commandramon. He’s already back to barking orders, prompting his squad’s sole Cargodramon to perform a strafing run on Deltamon.
While your partner fights, you make sure to stay near him, ducking and weaving between attacks. Quite a number of stray Gaossmon try to go for you, and you're forced to pause and shoot them down. Astamon turns around whenever he can and fires off random sprays of bullets, deleting whole swathes of them at once. You also take notice of a few Commandramon defending you. Bullets constantly fly by from their end of the street, but none hit you. They're making good on their word consistently. You scratch their backs, they scratch yours.
