”Thank you Countess, I will take up that offer. I do need time to rebuild.”
“Very well, before you depart, ensure you find out how it intends to disable the spacial defences.”
It ? The Countess sure is annoyed.
“I will endeavour to do so.” You state before departing.
Finally having jumped out of the tiger’s den, you find a moment to relax, only to see a bunch of pissed of marines staring down Iron, they must’ve heard about what happened inside. No surprise there, allowing someone to meet their liege alone carries serious risks.
“Ah, good. I was beginning to feel unwelcome here, despite the fine environment.”
“Enough with the snide remarks, let us go.” You say ignoring any reply that might come your way.
After taking a few steps from prying eyes, you once more begin to speak. “How will you disable the defences ?”
“Oh, everything is already in place. Once your forces arrive to one of the Raisatan held systems, simply begin transmitting at these frequencies at these intervals.” He remarks casually, before your comm pings you. Looking it over, you see that a message from Iron had reached you.
“How did you-“
“Simple, really. If something is connected, it can be traced, if it can be traced, it can be broken through. Oh, I suppose I should remark that my reports shall be written on paper.”
“Paper ? What are we, primitive barbarians.”
“Ahhh, the greatest writings of man were made upon paper, velvet, hide, clay, bamboo, and papyrus they stores our knowledge, glory, and secrets. Never underestimate things that you may consider primitive. All things had to come from somewhere.”
“Sure, next thing you will tell me is that we need to use thousand-year-old guns.”
“Perhaps, you never know what the future holds, it does note necessarily means advancement and progress.”
With endless philosophy of a three-year-old, Iron continues to bore you until you can return to your ship.
Sitting, exhausted, on to your captain’s chair, you call out to Tetreault. “Prepare the fleet, we are returning to the rear for some R&R, but before that, swing by Shu VIII to pick up our marines. And also see if we can’t requisition some menials to steer back the ship we captured from there.”
“Understood, Captain.”
With your XO and capable subordinates carrying out your orders, you quickly grow bored and return to the captain’s quarters. For the following days, you will spend most of your time there, only returning to the bridge to check up on the situation.

(POV shift: You are Countess-Commodore Philicia Lauritzen. You have a battle to win.)
A Timur is torn apart. An unfortunate loss, but that’s the cost of duelling with planetary defences. By now, only main domed settlement remains. With one final volley via Indomitus, you finally crack the last of the defences.
With this, whatever survivors are still down there are doomed to a slow death.
