Also I guess now would be a good time to mention: Monke Quest is highly inspired by Star Wars (the more 'used future' aesthetic, space mysticism, more humanoid/furry races that are less unorthodox and "alien", etc.) and early on I regretted not copying more directly from Star Wars, namely the shields, blasters, droids, etc. mostly for aesthetic and my own personal enjoyment. Current Monke is a much less retro-futuristic view of the future and is probably more "grounded", it's grown into its own thing. Part of me wishes I could be based enough to just run a "Star Wars but GOOD" in my own version (like with the Monke races) but I think it's a bit too far gone to try to do that lol
