>>5734283<span class="mu-s">"It was a blade, most likely made from warp metal."</span> You explain.
"Warp... metal?" She asks, bewildered. "As in, FTL drive cores? That material?"
<span class="mu-s">"Precisely."</span>
"I've... never heard of a weapon being made from that before. You didn't...?"
Yeah, you can tell from the tinge of fear in her eyes what she's thinking.
<span class="mu-s">"The federation, yes."</span>
She wants to facepalm so hard right now, but settles for wiping her forehead with the back of her wrist as she sighs.
"Why, exactly? What good does it do to piss them off?"
Lyna heads back to her toolbox, and this time comes back with a sonicator.
<span class="mu-s">"What good does it do to sit here and wait for death? Did you think rescue was coming?"</span>
She's about to start cutting Cylia's suit off when you stop her.
"It was supposed to be. Reinforcements from Dark Star, supposedly. Is that you, by any chance?"
Rolling Cylia over, you show her a zipper than runs along the back.
She rolls her eyes and starts stripping Cylia down, only to find that she's wearing a skinsuit underneath.
"...Seriously? Another suit? Is this more armor?"
<span class="mu-s">"Not quite. Your scalpel will work on that."</span>
As she continues peeling off Cylia's outer armor, she notices her physique.
You can see her looking Cylia over closely, and after the armor is off she even begins massaging her muscles.
"Incredible physique... i've never seen a Caithan with definition like this, even amongst their military. What sort of training has she undergone to produce such results?"
<span class="mu-s">"Doctor. Her hand, if you would."</span>
"Yes, but..."
<span class="mu-s">"Doctor."</span> You urge, just a bit more aggressively.
Lyna sighs, and takes the scalpel back to hand.
She carefully removes a segment of Cylia's skinsuit, up to the bicep.
After that, she prepares an area and injects what you assume to a local anesthetic, along with some antibiotics.
She takes a moment to disinfect her scalpel, then begins slicing the skin open along Cylia's forearm, exposing her muscles and tendons.
It's pretty nasty, and you don't particularly enjoy watching it. But Lyna seems to focus in on her work now, and begins a long, slow procedure that turns out to be quite interesting.
She had to fish out the severed tendons that had pulled back into her forearm, then use several different types of medicine including what she called an 'instant stem cell kit' to prepare the various tissues for reattachment.
All the important bits (such as nerves, veins and arteries) were manually reconnected, but the muscle and bone were essentially able to be 'glued' back together.
You've actually used some of that stuff on Cylia before, a type of injectable gel that can reconnect a cleanly broken bone in no time. Bone gel, as it's colloquially called.
The surgery takes two and a half hours, during which time you lock the joints of your suit and essentially just stand there, watching.
Lyna doesn't make any funny moves though, and completes the surgery without issue.
